I need a good gun case for the 15-22, recommendations?
From research I think it has to be 42" long correct? Id like a soft case that can hold extra clips and ammo as well. Any websites besides amazon yall can point me to? Brand names I should look out for or stay away from?
Thanks.
Oh and moderators, Im not sure if Im searching right on this forum, but when I type in "gun cases" in the search I get pages of all these topics but none that say 'gun cases' in the thread title. So it becomes pointless. How can I get results that only show me people who typed what Im looking for in the thread title.

This is the one I bought for my 15-22:
UTG Ultimate Combat Weapons Rifle Gun Case with 3 Detachable Side Pockets Nylon - MidwayUSA
I got the 42" in olive.
The three side pouches attach to PALS panels, so you can swap them out with other MOLLE pouches/mag carriers, etc.
There's also 2 more large PALS panels inside the top zippered section.

emailed customer service at sportsmansguide about that case and the less expensive one that looks nearly identical. Was told that neither was manufactured by Voodoo Tactical, (though they look like they may be made by the same Chinese manufacturer). Also told the cheap one is not padded, even though the description clearly states it is, so CS may not know much about their product line at SG. I am personally considering the midway usa case as a good alternative to a hard case i currently use that requires me to either unmount the optics or break down the gun for transport.

I really like my Midway bag:
I wanted to keep it cheap/simpler and it works great!

the 15-22 fits nicely in a 36" case
i got the 5.11 36" case, double diaper corners hold the rifle in tight, mole webing and straps, light zipper ,and undersize lock rings on zipper
had to buy luggage locks to fit, i don't feel this is a working drag bag. but from the house to the range / shooting patch / behind the truck seat and back, it's great and the standard square black bag doesn't screem " I'M A GUN"
the other option i looked at was spikes tactical 36"
good luck on your search, let us know what you find, new stuff out there all the time

if you really want to break it down and have padded protection, this is the only thing i would get.
see the third post in my link above.

The one I received and many others have received is a voodoo tactical case. Not sure about the less expensive one, but the link I provided is one.
I can take pics if you would like me too.

I picked up the Winchester Assault Rifle Case (on Amazon). Got the 38" length, and it works great! To see a picture, look at "Jav" post above. Only difference is mine has the Winchester logo on it. Selling price was $15.97 + shipping.

Not doubting your word triggs, I'm just passing along what Sportsmansguide CS told me. As such, it seems they don't know their product line as well as I would like. I guess I'll keep shopping Midway instead.

The Bulldog bd-422 (tactical style case) is what I've got and it's very nice. About $28 bucks online. Nice padding and pockets.

Well I know this thread is about the cheaper cases but I thought id share what I now understand. For xmas my wife bought me an AUG and I gotta say its a lot of fun and gets a lot of looks, but my mother being the sweetie she is called and got me the pelican custom case for it. I swore I would never spend that kind of money on a case but since it was a gift and was on clearance I won't complain. Now for what I've learnd, I've owned and own probably 20+ cases of 1 kind or another and this thing is on a totally different level all together. I now know why the millitary carries their electronics in these cases.
In my personal opinion these r by far worth the premium they demand and you will not hear me say that often about any thing. And I will be purchasing another for my m4s..
Sorry for the thread hacking but its kinda on the same line

i totally agree with this man, and nice case post up pics whenever. Its not particularly a huge investment considering the price of the firearm, and the fact that you may own it for the rest of your life. I dont think these cheaper fabric bags could last that long, but more importantly couldn't provide you with as much protection. You can run these things over with cars without damaging the goods inside.

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone. I really like the look and versitility of the bags on The Sportmans Guide ( 36 Padded Weapons Case, Military Surplus, Major Surplus at Sportsman's Guide) and on Cheaper Than Dirt ( MOLLE-202 - ModGear Black Ultimate Rifle Case 12x4x42" Weapons Case Zippered). These are kinda like gun bags and range bags all in one and thats what I want. Something to protect gun enough and has pockets to hold extra clips, ammo, eye/ear protection for range, etc. These fit the bill.
I understand the nicer hard cases are more protective, but Im only transporting the gun from the house to the range and back. So I really dont see the need for a more expensive bag at this time and then a seperate bag for ammo etc.
Thanks again.

I probably should have looked into a bag with room for my muffs, glasses and bulk ammo boxes of ammo (the little cases of 100 are find in the outer zipper) since that would have been convenient but a grocery bag does fine for that haha

You can get this case from sportsmansguide.com for $20. I received mine today, I am happy with it for the money. If you go to www.retailmenot. com you can get a $10 off coupon code as well.
