Default Ambi-Safety Mod

For anyone who has installed an ambi-safety similar to the ones pictured below, what modifications did you have to do to make it work on the 15-22 lower?

I don't think anyone has done this . Our receivers are actually a little wider than standard AR receivers and the ambi selecters aren't compatible.

I know our receivers are wider but the reason I asked is that in one recent thread here on the forum, Brett248Vista mentioned that some folks have made them work some how.

I can't recall who the form member was, but someone was able to make one work it took some shimming, cutting, different screw from what I remember.

Here ya go!

My stupid 15-22 questions.

Thanks, Brett. Sometimes it's nice to find out I'm wrong. I'm going to have to order another selector while I'm waiting for my free float adapter so I can install all of it next weekend.

Shawn,

It's certainly not a "bolt on" but it doesn't look like it's too bad of a mod to do.

I wish one of these guys here with access to CNC equipment would just make a true bolt on unit

I think that it would be fairly easy to do with the Dremel and a cutoff wheel. Just check the fit and depth until it is good.

*nods* it's only plastic... I agree a Dremel with a fiber wheel would probably have it done in a minute or two, maybe follow up with a jewelers flat file.

Besides, I like cutting on my 15-22. It really freaks my brother out.

Or receivers are about 1/8" wider than an ar15 lower. I hate the cheesy plastic selector lever on the 15-22 so I checked fitment with the selector from my colt a2sp2......definitely wouldn't work.
