Default RRages Ultimate Sighting System Sighting Issues

I have recently purchased the Ultimate Sighting System from RRages.com. This scope comes with a micro red dot. To those who also own it, have you had any problems sighting in the red dot? I can not get it low enough. The system is mounted on a carrying handle. I thought that might be the problem but then I moved it to the side and still had the same problem. Any advice?

What is the distance your trying to sight it in at, if it is close then the carry handle will definitely be an issue. When you say you moved it to the side, what did you move to the side?

Take off your carry handle and your front sight and try again! Bet it works

I would say your mounting is just way too high. Depending on the range of the target...

Sights are too high affecting POA and POI.

I had the same problem with the NC Star version. I finally returned it to where I bought it and went with a 2x mag red dot from barska. I'm happy with it. I also have a 12x nikon on a quich disc if I want to shoot over 50 yards.

I would remove the carry handle, you won't be using it with the scope mounted on it anyway, generally you do not mount scopes on carry handles cause you can't really use the carry handle when you do plus it elevates the scope too high, besides scopes just look to funny on top of them they don't really go well together.

it looks in the photo like the red dot is about 6" off of the top of the rail and there is no way there will be enough adjustment in it to get it sighted down low enough for use on a .22lr

also remove the front sight as you will not need it since you already have two sighting systems with the scope and red dot

these NcStar scope with the red dots work great mounted right on the rail, (actually almost all scopes can be mounted right on the rail) no need for any other gadgets when using them

There is not enough adjustment in the red dot for a .22LR even with the scope sitting on the flat top, the red dot still won't sight in for relatively close range, just not enough adjustment. You need to get the red dot as close to the center-line of the muzzle as possible.

I had the same problem sent it back twice. Finally switched it out for the green dot version. the regular red dot has the switch in the front and doesn't give you the adjustment you need. the green dot has no switch so it has plenty of down adjustment

Looking at the telescope on the carry handle the only word I can think of it bizarre!

Ditch the handle. Or change sights.

I was trying to sight it in at 25 yards. I'll try it without the handle.
Thanks for the input.

Good idea to switch it. Even if you could have gotten it sighted in, your point of impact at any reasonable distance, closer or further from you sight in distance, would also be way off.

You just can mount the sight/optic that far way from the axis of the bore and expect anything to work (for what you are trying to achieve).

My goal was to have a scope and keep my iron sights. I guess you can't have everything.

you can't really get magnification and iron sights at the same time... unless you go with some of those funky "off to the side" iron sights or off to the side mini-scopes / red dots. You can cowitness irons with red dots, but those have no magnification.

You can put on a flip up BUIS like this Magpul and have your scope on. Don't worry about the front sight, it is out of focus and you won't see it thru the scope.
You could even put it in front of the scope. But then you would have a shorter sight radius like an AK or SKS.
You have to remove the scope to use the BUIS, but that's the point I think. Your optics are bad, so you need standard sights. If things are really close, just aim down the side of the barrel. It's a skill that's not taught, but if you really know your rifle, you don't need sights till you get to ranges that require optics.

Of course you can have magnification and iron sights. With this setup the cheek weld changes slightly but not a great deal. From center of rear aperture to center of scope eyepiece is about .75 inch, and that's with the rear aperture at it's lowest possible setting. The problem with your setup is that the scope has a built in mount designed for a flattop... so putting it up on the carry handle is just too much height.

well its not impossible but I hate mounting scopes up like that. those irons look smaller than normal, are they micro versions, who makes em? lower middle or upper cowitness?

Phil beat me to it. This sight was designed for handle mounting on the M16 rifle.

I can do two easily, but not three. Irons+Scope or Irons+Dot. This scope and this dot interfere with each other.
