Default 15-22 suppressed cycling

Remington sub-sonics are advertised at 1049 fps but chronograph 864 fps in my gun. CCI std. vel. advertised at 1070 fps chronograph 1008 in my gun.

CCI will cycle the action every time. Rem. SS will only cycle the action on the first shot realiabily.

Anybody else had this problem? The chronographed velocities are without the suppressor installed. Even with the suppressor installed, the Rem. are not reliable.

Has anybody replaced the recoil spring with a lighter spring or cut coils off the factory spring?

All Remington ammo has given serious problems for my gun, which is suppressed one. More wise is shoot CCI or Lapua, and forgot Remington. Biggest problem has been ignition and very poor quality.........with suppressor you will find bad quality easily.....some are loud, next is not.

I also use CCI Standard Velocity. They stay subsonic and cycle well.

I've got some Rem 22Subsonic 38gr HP 1050fps. I've also got some Rem 22Target 40gr RN 1050fps. I'll try shooting some of each today with a suppressor.

doesn't S&W advise to stay away from the remington ammo?

Short version: Both performed poorly.

Long Version: About 30% of Rem 22Subsonic went supersonic and cycled fine. Of the rounds that stayed subsonic about 20% would not cycle (empty casing stayed in chamber). Rem 22Target went supersonic the majority of the time and cycled fine.

The temperature was about 50 so maybe on a warmer day more would have stayed subsonic? That said, all CCI standard velocity rated at 1070fps stayed subsonic while both the Rem are rated at 1050fps.

(15-22 YHM Wraith)

Default Rem sub-sonic

Have to agree that the Rem. sub-sonic are very eratic. Some are louder than others and will cycle the action and others just fail to eject. They really are trash. The CCI SV rounds function everytime. Unfortunally, the CCI's are harder to find. Dick's has them so I'll stock up a brick or two at a time when I get anywhere close to a Dick's. Closest one is 60+ miles away but I have a couple of sons that live close to it so can get them to pick up a brick or two when they are coming to visit. Besides, the younger son thinks it great to shoot the 15-22 suppressed. So do I. YHM-Mite. Now it would be nice if we could suppress the noise from the action when it cycles. Never realized how loud the action is. I'll get my 77-22 barrel threaded and it should really be quite. Ever notice how doing one thing just leads to another? Never seems to end.

lol so true. I am a hobby addict, everything I get into I go crazy. I just got my 15-22 3 weeks ago only my second gun other then my CCW firearm and I am already looking into a trust and then getting my stamp. And I am already looking at another rifle.
