Will the S&W MP 1522 CA compliant take a 25 round mag?

I like the looks of the ball headed muzzle and those are cheaper than the model with the flash surpressor.

I think there is a demand for 10 round mags so I could sell that and get some 25's if they work.

There are enough places selling the 10 round magazines that I wouldn't count on people knocking down your door to buy them. You can probably find someone on the forum that is looking for the short ones as they let you shoot from a table.

I wasn't expecting to make a big profit but the tip on bench clearance is appreciated.

Are there any other differences in this model other than mag size and muzzle?

I have a compliant model and don't think the trigger is different. We can't have a stock that extends or folds, flash supressor, more than 15 round (NJ), bayonet. Maybe one or two other things.

Yes, it is fixed totally extended. I would rather it be halfway or even fully closed. My Sig 522 is the same way, can't fold the stock and it is fixed extended, but it only extends very little anyway.

CA compliant rifles do NOT have a fixed stock. The compliance is the 10 round mag limitation.

The California evil gun list features only applies to centerfire rifles.
The ten round magazine limit applies to all weapons sold in California.

There is also evil pistol features such as a threaded barrel, second handgrip or a barrel shroud.
Shotguns as well. If it has two of these features. Semiautomatic with folding stock along with a pistol grip,thumbhole stock, vertical handgrip or a detachable magazine.
Of course the evil revolving cylinder shotgun is verboten.

You must know your local laws and regulations at least as well as law enforcement before you make a decision to modify a gun. It might be a good idea to carry a copy of the specific law with you in Kalifornia.
You might even ask at least a few law enforcement officers for their interpretation about what's legal. You might be surprised.
Somebody somewhere has adapters.
But you have to check your local laws and regulations.
Just because you can buy and own something does not mean you can always use it.

However, if you're looking at a rimfire AR, be wary of using conversions to existing rifles. The 'ceiner' conversion devices (which replace the bolt carrier of an AR-15 with a 22LR assembly) are entirely too close to the line to use with a detachable magazine. I personally do feel safe with the V-22 upper on one of my AR-15s, however, as it's almost impossible to remove from the rifle without tools.

As Bruce said above, rimfires can use all of the "Evil Features" in California. Flash, Compensator, forward grip etc.

The 10 round limit is a bit tricky. Possession and use of Standard Capacity magazines is perfectly legal, using them is also perfectly legal. Importation and manufacturing of 11+ Round magazines is the problem. The problem is the 15-22 is a post 2000 rifle and no magazines existed for the rifle prior to 2000.

Add any feature you want on the rimfire, even use 25 round magazines, assuming YOU legally own them in California.

I am curious about this as my new CA compliant M&P 15-22 also did not come with the threaded barrel but my friend who just bought his Colt/Umarex M-4 style 22lr did come with a threaded barrel and flash suppressor. Is Colt/Big-5 selling an illegal rifle or is S&W being cautious.

As a side note, I'm new here and really appreciate all the information I've learned from this forum. It's a great resource as well as a bad influence on my spending habits.

Yours didn't come with any Magpul stuff, right? The MOE model has a threaded barrel and a flash suppressor already on it. I live in CA and bought it from a CA shop this way, it's legal for a rimfire rifle.
