Went to pick up my new 15-22 and just had to have this.....
Yes, I am weak, especially for a good deal. Went to my FFL to pick up the NY compliant 15-22 I bought for $378 shipped. And then I spied one of these GSG's and had to have it !!! For some reason it was priced at just $315, don't know why as they seem to go for more money than that. Me thinks I have to try and fit that fake can to the 15-22.......Anyone else have one ??? Shoo

I know, it makes no sense since they wanted $500 for the GSG-5PK pistol. Maybe they meant to mark it at $415 instead of $315 ??? The gunstore owner was putting it back in the box after unscrewing the fake can and removing the buttstock, and the thought of putting that can on the 15-22 got into my head. Having a full machine shop should make that a possibility. Shoo

Hmmmm, Papa Rotzi is on Collentin Dr., Shooboy is on Guinevere Dr., and I'm over on Shadowbrook Dr.
I smell a 'convention' of MP15-22er's.

Shoo
You got a terrific deal on the new gun. I watched that and the 15-22 for months before deciding on the Smith. If I saw that price, I would've done that too.
Of course, I would've been living in the garage until spring.....
Be aware Shoo, the ATF has a problem with one of the fake cans that came on one of those models, not sure which one.
ATI will replace the "illegal" one and you send in the "bad" one. This just happened so beware.
There is a replacement screw package for that gun, somebody figured that the screws in the stock gun were soft metal or something.There's a vid on youtube showing it. { shrugs}
Have fun and report. I envy you guys all live in the same area, it's hilarious you are just finding out about each other!!!
Regards,
Mark

Thanks Mark, I did see that info when I was checking out some things on the GSG. Guess I could always call ATI, the importer and distributor for GSG, since they are right here in Rochester, NY also ! Wish I knew someone over there that could hook me up with some extra mags, Shoo

Shoo,
You legally stole that thing! I know I paid a lot more for my PK
RRages has all kinds of cool goodies for the GSG's. I need to get his screw kit and his genuine HK take down pin set.

Yup. But then again the last time I had them was a few years back. Is that a different place or did Henrietta's change hands or go under?

Okay, all the guys from the Rochester (Greece) area, where do you do your shooting? I haven't been out yet with my 15-22. I bought it in December at American Sportsman in East Rochester and think I got ripped off. I paid $465.00 Although, Charlie did throw in an extra magazine and a brick of CCI's.
I usually go out with my son in law to shoot. He's out every week. He belongs to Rochester Brooks Gun Club and we usually shoot sporting clays and use the rifle range. I haven't been out lately due to some health problems (back). Hope to get out within the next few weeks.

Just figure out what part of the forum your question may have the best chance at being answered, and post it. The mods will move it to another section if need be. Or, if it's for a specific person, just send that person a PM. Welcome to the Forum, Shoo

Not sure about the Hennrietta place, but Nick Taho's did change hands and name a couple of years ago. My son thinks the garbage plates are the same and HAS to have at least one every time he comes up from Maryland to visit.
His stomach is tougher than mine and likes to think its a desert platter.
Shooboy,
What dealer did you pick up that nice little GSG at?

Hey Citioriplus, I got it from Jackson's Guns and Ammo. It was priced at $315, but they rang it up for an even better $305 ! I saw they already had another one in the showcase, priced now at $350. Still not a bad price, Shoo

OK, I have been going over to Beikirch's on Linden Ave for most stuff for so many years I didn't know there was a store down there.
Now I'm going to have to go over there to check it out, damn it.

Hi BELT_FED, Did you do the screw upgrade kit on yours ? I read that the screws that hold it together are a little soft and end up becoming loose. I've also seen recommendations on blue Loctiting them. Sounds like something I may do if I can ever get these 70 Shoo Hammers done ! I've got to have a little corrective surgery on my finger I stuck in the Bridgeport mill in 2 weeks, so I gotta get my butt in gear ! Thanks, Shoo

I heard that the SCAR is also available in .22lr.
Has anyone held on or get to shoot it?
It's a nice looking gun, just a lot of parts in it.

Yes i have seen and held one. hated it. which upset me deeply because i really wanted to like it. it didnt fit me well at all. the stock was very uncomfortable and i couldnt get positioned on it right and the iron sights are about worthless. it needed a red dot something fierce

I bought one of these on impulse before I got my 15-22. After doing a lot of reading I took it back. Here's why.
I read a lot of threads about the bolt cracking since it's cast and sleeved instead of being machined.
One person who was a machinist took the whole thing apart and said that the number of machined parts would fit on one hand. The rest were stamped or cast.
One of the other complaints was that it's very difficult to disassemble and put back together. The complexity of the mechanisms inside were overly complex and presumably more prone to problems. With practice it takes around an hour to put it back together.
GSG is a company that only recently made it's foray into firearms. Before that, they made airsoft guns. They are a toy company. It's the same as if Daisy decided to start making firearms.
Lastly, they don't have much of a warranty. I understand the guys at ATI are doing well with keeping up with things, but they don't have a lifetime warranty like SW does. When I purchase a firearm, it's for life. Guns are heirloom purchases to me and I want to be able to hand them down for generations.
All of that being said, lots of people own them, and lots of people love them. All guns have their issues and warts, 15-22 certainly does. They are also cool as hell looking.
If these things don't bother you, then my suggestion is to go out, buy lots of ammo and go shoot the bloody thing and not worry about what anyone else thinks. Enjoy!
Tim
