Default Bolt sticks after fresh mag is loaded

I noticed when I release the bolt after I put a new mag in, it tends to stick. I don't see a correlation between the bolt sticking and the type of ammo I use.

I clean my guns very well, especially my 15-22 as easy as it is.

could it be the bolt spring/charging spring(or whatever the long spring in the bolt assembly is called)?

How are you releasing the bolt?

What do you mean by, it sticks? It doesn't chamber all the way?

Yeah. So when I am dry, the bolt locks open like normal.
but when I load a fresh mag, and hit the slide release the round doesn't fully chamber, about 50% of the time. I have to hit the side of the gun to get the bolt to slide forward.

Unless the rounds are staggered in the magazine it will not hold 25 rounds. Actually it will but it will fail to feed the first round as it's jammed so tightly against the magazine lips.

In my experience the magazine on the right in both photos will probably fail to feed the first round if 25 are forced into it. And may misfeed several times.

While the bolt is "stuck" try releasing the mag from the gun...see if that causes the bolt to suddenly finish chambering the round....If not then the gun is dirty...... if so, then the bolt is dragging on the next round under the one it currently is chambering. I had this issue on my gun and made a few changes to the bolt to fix it....

....On the bottom side of the bolt there is a rib that rides on the "next bolt" .... I put a slight bevel on the leading edge(more or less just taking the edge off), polish the bottom surface of the entire rib and add a drop of lube....this will allow the bolt to glide over the rounds instead of plowing them.

That seems like an easy enough fix if I had the tools. I may need to take it somewhere to have the done. for now, I'll have to take the extra time to make sure the rounds are staggered in the mag. thanks guys

mag loading correctly will not fix your issue....

you can bevel the edge with a nail file...and the polishing is done with 1500 grit sand paper and metal polish. both very easy to find at a hardware store.
