Default CCI Blaser Bulk or Federal Bulk

Just got my 15-22 MOE and the local retailers have these bulk packs. Both are about the same price per round so I'm wondering if one is better than the other function wise. Accuracy I realize is a different question and one that I will have to figure out for my gun.

I like the blazers better. I get duds with the fed bulk. Shot thousands of blazers and no duds. Is that really a 14-22 not a 15-22

Doz is right, CCI is best for going bang every time, but federal is cheaper. i have gone thru quite a few bricks of federal and ive had maybe 8 or 9 FTF. CCI ive had zero. all depends on what you want to spend. when im just pokin paper, federal. when i sight in a new scope/reddot CCI.

Both are about the same. A few less duds with CCI Blazer. I would, and do, happily run both through my 15-22. However my GSG 1911 22 prefers Fed bulk so that's usually what I buy.

I don`t shoot Blazers because of the lead. (Very Dirty )
I either shoot Mini-Mags or Feds. I`ve been told one breath of lead stays in your system 40 yrs. I`m bad enough on my system, I`ll keep the lead to a minimum.

Your Mini mags and Feds have lead in the priming compound. You'd better stay away from those. As well as all standard centerfire ammunition. And guns in general if you are scared of lead.

yeah, for that very reason I only pretend to shoot my gun. which is nice because I can shoot in my living room, never actually have to sight anything in, and don't worry about the cost of ammo. my sound effects are getting pretty good too...

but seriously, impurities store in our fat cells which is partially how studies can claim the longevity of contaminants in our body. I imagine the amount of time and ammunition it would take for the trace amounts of lead a shooter is exposed to, to actually cause physical harm make the risk negligible.

I'm buying blazers for $13.99 a brick and bulk federal at wally world is $18.97. Me think the blazers are cheaper. Now the federal 510's are $17.77 at wally world. It's not in bulk, but the blazer's are still cheaper !!!

Thought I read somewhere here (or Calguns) that Federal owns CCI? So the 525 pack is from federal's factory and the 500's are CCI. I dunno, maybe it's the vapor from Hoppes #9 or something

Both Federal Premium and CCI Ammunition are owned by the huge conglomerate ATK.

That`s the beauty of America you can buy what you want. I`m not scared of lead , I just chose to shoot a cleaner round.

I have a few value packs of CCI Blazer (lead) and Federal (copper) saved up for my 15-22 MOE that I'm picking up in a few days. Both ammo runs flawless through my other .22LR guns, so I'll be using those for my 15-22.

The only thing I won't do, which I don't do on any of my guns, is switch between lead & copper ammo before cleaning my gun. Whether or not this will actually make a difference or hurt anything, it's more of a personal preference of mine.

I switch between lead and plated regularly with no issues. Probably 3500 rounds through the bore since the last cleaning, a mix of CCI blazer and Fed. Shotgun hulls are still dropping like flies.

I have run 2050 rds of blazers through my 15-22 since December. No problems whatsoever. I think its time to clean it. Bought some synthetic gun scrubber yesterday to do the job.

Thanks for all the info everyone. Wally World had the Federal bulk (550's) for $18.97 and Sportsman's has the Blaser 500 pack for $17. Going for the Blaser. They also have a Blaser bulk pack 550 loose in carton but I'm not sure of that price.

Default comparison

Ammo..again

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Awhile back I posted about the inconsistancy of some Fed. bulk that I'd bought from a well known on-line outfitters bigbox type store. After experiencing very unsatisfactory performance on several levels, at that time I measured the cartridge rims on a box of the bulk and the values were all over the place.. I have about 1500 rnds left.(fed 745). Samples from each box proofed out to the average wide deviation of rim thickness.
Yesterday, I had a dumb a** moment and bought 1050 more rounds of 745, but purchased locally. Since I can't return it, I decided to measure it to see if this lot number was comparible to the lot i last bought. To my surprise, it was much closer in varience of rim thickness. happy joy joy.

Now comes a kicker albeit not totally surprising, I also bought a bunch of Blazer on sale. I decided to measure it. ..... It is so consistent that I quit after about 300 rounds. Yes there was a couple, 2, incidences that were farther out than the norm, but consistent is the key word.

All this being said, how's it all going to shoot? As soon as I can get some range time, I'm going to shoot my MOE and my new PC off a bench rest side by side, and see what shakes down.

I like what I've experienced with CCI overall.

Hobie

So far the Blasers are shooting well. Function is 100% (out of 200 rounds) and accurate. Once the weather gets better I plan to shoot lots of them!

Sorry guys, not to hijack or anything but I was hoping someone could give me a rundown on the CCI Mini Mags.

I have seen Mini Mag HV, HS, and HP. I'm assuming HV = high velocity, and HP = hollow point? I also notice the grain is different on each....

So for now I've ordered a box of HP and HV....

Sorry again yall, ran the search and came up dry.

I use lead bullets.

I used to be able to get my daily lead from auto exhaust emissions but they went lead free.

The plumbing in our city pipes was full of lead, of course the city said it was a safe level of lead, but I moved to the country and have all new copper pipes with lead free solder. Lost my lead there....

Even the ducks I shoot now must be shot with lead free shot. I still hunt pheasants with lead shot though!!!

We have lived for thousands of years ingesting lead! Roman faucets were made of lead, rum stills were made with lead, paint was made with lead.

Now we are nearly lead free.... And for the first time in recorded history the expected lifespan has decreased. Cancer is becoming more prevalent. Children are being diagnosed with ADHD in epidemic proportions.

Coincidence?? Time will tell. Doctors used to tell us Heroin was a wonder drug and should be taken regularly.

Default I like the Federals-the bulk boxes of HP's and the bulk

Auto Match. I have been using them for about 10 years, and have no problems with them.
No bench rest shooter, but a sqirrel hunter and onetime paper puncher.

CCI mini mags are very good ammo both the RN & HP, I have quite a few on hand. I use this ammo for hunting. I would like to use in my 15-22 but they cost almost double of my plinking ammo. Some people will only shoot the mini-mags. I mainly plink with my 15-22 so I run blazers mainly or I like the fed 510's also.

Some have had better groups with the Hollow Points vs the round nose when it comes to Mini Mags. Probably a weight issue as the hollow points are 36grain to the round nose 40 grain.

Personally, I don't like blazers, my fingers are just covered in lead and I'm exposed to enough cancer causing agents being in the Aerospace industry, and the fact that they're bulk leaves imperfections that standard mini mags don't have. For some, it's a waste to use anything but bulk when it comes to plinkin, but for me, I wanna eek out every bit of performance when I'm plinkin/target practice (it's the only shooting I do unless coons or coyotes are after my chickens, then I'm head shottin them varmits). It's probably just part of my OCD as far as only shootin Mini Mags, haha. It's just funny when people tell me I'm crazy for spendin under seven bucks for a hundred of them, when I'm used to payin eight bucks for cheap 223's....and that's only for 20 rounds.

....and it's pretty cool seein over seven thousand Mini Mags on the shelf.

Yea I bought the box of blazers just to try, I am a bit ocd when it comes to my firearms as well and dirty ammunition bothers me... Lead and carbon... I'll pass

Anyways I just bought 750rds (two 375 boxes) of the Tactical, as well as two boxes of the Mini Mags. Not too much I can find about the tactical though. However, my gun dealer did talk to a S&W rep who said they are a great round, and from what I can find online he is probably right.

Ahhhh I see, Hollow point and Round nose.... I could have sworn I saw a Mini Mag HS too.... I'm gonna have to look that up again.
