Default blue springs?

What and where are these "blue springs"? Recently purchased a 15-22 with Ser # DTH prefix. Have not shot it much yet, but it does seem to be ammo sensitive. I did change the trigger, hammer and disconnector springs to a set of JP rifle 4.0 springs on their advice that the 3.5 springs could lead to misfires. Any information would be appreciated.

When you remove the bolt assembly unit from your 15-22, you will see the main recoil spring attached to the top of the bolt. This "blue colored spring" is what everyone is referring to. Some of the earlier versions of the 15-22 did NOT have "blue springs"....supposedly, the "blue springs" were to resolve some early problems with FTF's and FTE's. Hope this answers your question.....

Jammer, I have evidently got one of the earlier units, serial is DTH and the recoil spring is a plain steel color. Had it out today and had some problems, mostly failing to have the bolt close fully, stays about 3/8 or so from the breech face of the barrel. either when first releasing the charging handle on a fresh mag and sometime after firing a few shots, like the bolt is not fully retracting and ejecting the empty and it is still trying to pick up a new round. This in particular was happening with one mag, a 10 round short unit I bought special for sighting in from a bench, did not happen with a 25 round unit I also have. Have 3 more 25 round units I have not had a chance to try yet. The gun has a set of JP Rifle 4.0 fire control springs installed. Getting a little upset with this gun, does not hold a candle to my 6 10/22's.
