Reverse Safety
I shoot left handed and would like to reverse the safety on my 15-22. Has anyone done it and how tough was it.
Thanks

I shoot from the South side also, it is no problem at all. Remove the hand grip, but watch out for the springs and pins for the safety detent and the stock retaining pin. Remove the safety and revers it and you will see it has the grooves on both ens. Put the springs and pins back in and the grip on and yo are back in business on the South Side.

Thanks

I don't know why you would have to take the grip off. I have disassembled my 15-22 several times, and when I clean the FCG and also remove the safety and I have never had to remove the grip.
Just put the safety selector in between the fire and safe position and it will push right out, switch sides and its done.

I would think that the detent pin would come out and the spring would be in the way then.
I've already done it and I'm not going to un done it to find out.
Thanks anyways!

No.
The lower receiver on the 15-22 is wider than a standard AR lower. The ambi-selector levers made for AR lowers are not wide(long) enough.
If you want an ambi-safety, you have to 'mod' one using the existing 15-22 selector as a 'base', drill/tap a hole in the flat end, then attach the lever from the ambi safety with the included cap screw. It's likely the lever is 'keyed' so it grabs the selector when you turn it, so you will have to add the appropriate 'key' shape to the end of the existing 15-22 safety using some small files.
