Default feed problems with 10 round short mags?

Am having some feed problems with a 10 round S&W short mag, Wants to short feed and not go fully to battery, Have 4 of the 25 round mags that function fine, just problems with the 10 round short mag that I bought primarily for sighting in on the bench where the longer mags just get in the way. Ammo does not eem to make any difference, operation is hit and muss and not a constant happening. Measure the mags from the retaining notch to the top of the lips and the 10 rounder is .012 taller, this should not really make any difference. Seems like too much drag on the top round from the bolt, it has to drag some or the mag would not feed at all. Possibly the mag spring is too stiff???

I believe that there were problems with some of the early ones. If I was you a would contact S&W and I believe they will make it right

i never had any problems with a 10 rd mag long or short. i have noticed the spring in my short one does seem stiffer, but that would be expected as it's fully compressed when full.

What color is the follower? The early ones are blue and the later editions are orange. I have 2 of the latter and they've functioned perfectly so far.

Follower is Orange, ammo does not make any difference. Bolt is not going completely to battery as it seems to be dragging too much on the top round in the mag, as if the spring is too strong.

I ran into this problem the other day. Believe it or not, what solved it for me (at least in the short term) was re-cleaning and lubing the bolt more. I thought I had cleaned it enough after the last time I shot but apparently I hadn't. Lubing it more did the trick.

Default PROBLEM SOLVED

Once you understand how the gun operates you can figure out why it does not operate as it was intended. Too much drag on the bolt, causing it to not operate properly. Cut a little off thee mag spring to reduce the force on the bottom of the bolt and it runs fine. Works on CCI subs or SV or Blazer.
