Can I buy just the upper ??????
Well went to the range and let my buddy borrow my 15-22 pistol brand new and when we were cleaning them he forgot to put the upper back on and when we took off home it fell somewhere. It was his first shoot ever so can really go hard on him but was wondering if there is any possible way I can by an upper for the pistol and be back shootin again or will I have to buy another pistol. Thanks

unless you find someone parting one out I think your SOL. your best bet might be to call S&W directly and see if you can work something out.

Brett had rreplaced his upper on the rifle version. it was pretty cheap, i want to say only like 20 bucks. However it sounds like you lost the barrel and everything. thats not going to be cheap. they dont call it an upper though, the phrasing of it is weird.

Brett needed just a stripped upper receiver. If you lost everything, you will need a complete upper, which is about 75% of the cost of the gun (at least from building an AR recently that's how it was).

Yeah a complete upper isn't going to be cheap. I don't know what S&W asks for the pistol barrel, but they want something like $170 for the standard rifle barrel, the upper receiver was $19 and change. You would also need a barrel nut and the forward hand guard. I think all of the parts will be cheap except the barrel. Call S&W and talk to them. And it may be cheaper to buy the "parts" rather than a "complete" upper (if they will even sell a completed upper) there are no restrictions on the upper though, the lower is what's considered the "fire arm".

can you send them the lower and have it restored to something operational for a fee? i'd guess more like a non warranty repair?

If the barrel is only 80. It would seem easier to just piece everythig together and complete it that way You would only need the barrel. Guard. Barrel nut right???

You would still need the bolt and charging handle.

I hope you can get S&W to work with you as the pistol has been dis-continued.
You might look in some of the gun trader sites and see if you could buy the whole gun for $250-$300 range. Just a thought.

Yep.. If the whole upper is missing you need..
- Barrel
- Barrel Nut
- Forward Hand Guard
- Upper Receiver
- Charging Handle
- Complete Bolt Assy
- Hand Guard End Cap (if the Pistol uses this)
