Default Fast/Easy to Acquire scope for .22 rifle plate shooting?

My local club has a monthly steel plate shoot and the fast guys are running red dots instead of irons. Speed of acquisition is key for me. I don't think the ones with a tiny red dot are going to cut it. What do you guys recommend for that sort of thing? It'll be mounted to a S&W 15-22. Fairly tight budget, so it won't be an Eotech.

I've been hearing a lot of good things about primary arms on this forum..

I myself use a Aimpoint T-1 on my AR

but this looks promising

Primary Arms Micro Dot (Gen 2)

sorry to hi-jack your thread but it might help..

can someone give me some feed back on this particular RDS if you have it. thanks

Look for a decent decent sight with multiple reticles. You might find that the circle with a dot type of reticle will provide with faster target acquisitions. Deciding on on either a panaramic or tube type sight will be up to you.

If you have a T-1/H-1 Aimpoint, the Primary Arms micro dots are great. I have an H-1 on my 5.56 AR and I have the gen2 PA micro dot on my 15-22. If you are going to buy a new one now I'd suggest buying the newest one with the LED emitter on the side (@ 4:30 position) so you can better co-witness the BUIS (gen2 sits @ 6:00 position). The newest version also has way better battery life. I tried to setup my 15-22 much like my 5.56 AR so I am familiar with the controls, optics, and feel of it. I have no complaints with the dot or mount. The dot and mount combo is very light. Most importantly it holds zero under firing and even if you remove the mount from the rifle.

Default Aimpoint

I have an Aimpoint on my FN FS-90 and it works very well for me. Quick target acquisition, very little parallax, and very light weight. Shooting 40 grain 5.7x28mm V-max (FN SR197) at an indoor shooting range at the max distance of 75 ft with low lighting I am able to get 50 rounds (one mag) into a quarter-sized group shooting offhand and rapid fire. I am 57 yo, nearsighted, and have the beginning of cataracts. This was much better than what I shoot with iron sights.

It is a very short distance, maybe 50 feet? 5 plates that the "fast" guys are nailing in just under or just over 4 seconds, so fast acquisition of the target is critical.

50 feet...

any RDS will work cheap or expensive

it all depends how it works in lighting usually cheap ones doesn't work to well in direct sunlight

I use the T-1 or the EOTech XPS3-2 or 553.A65 for shootin steal

both eyes open

Bright sunlight. I tried another guy's gun set up with a red dot scope and I found myself hunting for the dot. Granted, I had not trained with that particular setup, but I've been using a red dot on my bullseye pistol in a league for years.

I guess I am asking about what is fastest to acquire within the set of red dot or reflex(?) type sights that is not too expensive.

Thanks to all of you for the suggestions so far, I am looking into them.
