Question Rail covers

Hey i am getting paid friday and was looking for some rail covers to put on all the empty space of the rails. The only thing i am going to pick up for my gun in the near future is a scope to take some rail space, otherwise i want to cover it up. Any suggestions that wont break the bank and how many packages i would need of them. All help would be great since this is the best forum ever!

I will take pics tomorrow so you guys can see how much rail space there is but and any cheap suggestions will help.

I love the look of these.
Simple, efficient and they flow well with the gun.

I do like those in the different colors, but can they be modified for size? and do you know how much they run?

I got these for my rifle and like them a lot. Buy 2 packages if you want full coverage of all 4 rails. Each segment can be linked and unlinked with the next one, so you don't have to cut them to size. Fit like a glove, too.

DBoys Full Length Armored RIS Rail Cover Panels Set of 4 - BLACK

On my rifle (just one pack - I would have needed 2 to cover the top rail too):

I like the Magpul XT Texture Rail Panels in OD; simple, cool and feels right to me. I also had a Knight's Armament Rail Cover along the bottom, but since this pic was taken, have replaced it with the Magpul XTM panels (got the Knight's cover free/used, it was loose so I replaced it):

i got two covers per pack, and if i remember right, they were about $11-12 a pack, you would need a few packs to totally cover the barrel

You can cut them down to the right size.
As for price, you should check for yourself, i'm in Holland, so prices are a bit different for me.

Ya after seeing those i am picking these for sure. They just grabbed my attention, looking awesome! For $20 total i would even have extra rails, even after covering the top rail.

Just like to say thanks to everyone for all the help since this really is the best forum. And i am putting a few pics up of my (never finished) gun.

I tried UTG covers, Magpul XTM panels and a full set of LaRue Index clips. Took em all off. What I have now is one LaRue Index Clip at the front and rear slot on the side rails to protect the handguard finish when laying the rifle down on a bench.

The plastic handguard on the 15-22 does not have sharp edges nor does it heat up, so the only thing left is grip preference. As far as grip... I found that the AFG was the way to go for me.

Way off topic here...

I see you are in Joliet, I am originally from Chicago, I was back last summer and my father-in-law and I went to the Nascar race in Joliet there. Thats a great track, been there half a dozen times or so.

Ok, back to your regularly scheduled program

the bare rail over the AFG doesn't bother you, The XT panels that i have are there to pad the area where my thumb and that part of my palm ride at. Just curious about your grip.

The grip i have on it is a pro mag that i found online for $8 and picked a mag onsale for $14, it holds steady and doesn't move at all.

as far as the race track goes, i have only been to the drag races and thats alot of fun!

High thumb position touching the top rail and about 1/4in behind flipped down front MBUS. Panels just make the handguard bigger around which doesn't help anything for me. I sometimes mount a K-15 green laser on the top rail just in front of my MicroDot with the tape switch tucked in between the 9&12 rail which provides great position/access for thumb activation

Hey blackbeard, also if u have a vertical grip you can put rails on both sides of the grip, all you have to do is use one of the extra square closing pieces on the part behind the grip, close it and lock it down then u can put the covers on the front up to the grip.

Acouple pics of the grip and closing piece
