Default Weird ammo question

Hey guys, I'm new to this forum and this is my first post. Just picked up my 15-22 this Friday and love it. Took it out shooting today and had some major malfunctions with rounds getting stuck vertically in the chamber. I have the 10 round factory magazine(thanks California) and 2-25 round S&W mags. I couldn't go 10 rounds without a malfunction. I ran 2 full mags of each one. I'm running Winchester super-x which is recommended. I then tried my dad's Remington Thunderbolt, which is not recommended, and ran 2 full 25 round mags without one malfunction! What gives? Any thoughts, thanks guys.

Default That is weird

Crazy as they tell you no ammo from Remington is good in this rifle. I just bought one a couple of days ago and have used CCI Velociters and CCI mini-mags with no problems in a 100 rounds.

Some guns are picky with ammo. Don't know what else it could be. Is one round nose and the other hollow point? That may be it...

And I hear nothing but bad things about Remington's rimfire ammo. The Ruger guys don't like it either.

The super-x is hollow point and the remington is round nose. It was just odd that the recommended ammo was screwing up. I'll try the CCI's or Federal, thanks guys.

I love the Federal 550 bulk pack and CCi Mini mags either round or hollow have worked fine for me and Wal-Mart carries both. Lots of rounds through it with no problems what so ever

I have run box (500) after box of Remington Golden through my 10/22 with very little problems. I bought Federal bulk for my 15-22 only because S&W says not to use Remington...maybe they just don't like Remington?? Anyway I plan to try them both and see if or both of them give my 15-22 problems.

IMHO I think CCI really knows how to get rimfire powder ignition better than any other 22cal. brand ammo. Maybe it is because primers and powder ignition is CCI's main forte and they have been gettingitdone for years. I decided I would save myself the frustration/cost of trying other brands of 22cal. ammo no matter what the price difference. When I pull the trigger I get the bullet down range and it works great in my MP 15-22.

I agree. I feed mine a steady diet of CCI Stingers and Mini Mags.

The best ammo I have found has been CCI Mini-Mags, Stingers and Remington Subsonic. I did have a couple of rounds with poor quality control with current manufacture Rem Subsonic. Federal runs fairly well in my 15-22 and Winchester 555/333 does okay but not really good enough.

I would run what ammo worked in my own 15-22 and if Remington Thunderbolt works for you, use it. Congrats on the 15-22, you'll love it.

CCI Blazer's work very well in the 15-22 for plinking, lot cheaper than mini mags.

I've run around 2000 rounds of Blazers through both 25 rounders I have, and
the only problem I have is it wants MOAR!

Seriously, nary a hiccup, and it eats anything I feed it. CCI Blazers are its
staple, however...

My manual says not to use Stingers in the Performance Center Model only.

CCI may cost more, but it's more accurate than other ammos and as far as Stingers not being recommended, that's only for the Performance Center model.

I've put thousands of CCI's through mine with zero issues. I only shoot CCI's in my Walther P22 and my M&P 15-22 and it's worth the extra buck or so per hundred rounds to me any day. Solid performing and very reliable.

Mine did OK with the bulk packs of Federal and Winchester I tried, but really took a shine to the CCI Tactical. May be marketing hype but I have been through several boxes now with zero malfunctions

+1 for CCI being more accurate then others. I sold 8 boxes of the fedral cause it was horrible compared to CCI.

When you say "2 full 25 round mags"...you mean the ones that are pinned at 10 rounds right? o_0

I bought some Remington Thunderbolts based on your post and had no FTEs. I did have three FTFires but all of them fired after being cleared. They do have an inconsistent powder charge but I'm not working on real accuracy work with my 15-22.

Haha! I know, it's just one of the perks I do have an update on my ammo. After going through the whole box of Winchester Super X, it seems the gun just needed to be broken in. The last 4-25 round mags had no FTF or FTE. I'm just used to my handguns in the fact that you just put the ammo in and fire with no problems. Def need to try different ammo though, that stuff seems pretty dirty.

I've had success with Winchester Super-X 100 round packs and the 500 round pack uhh..HV or something like that. The bulk was pretty dirty but every round fired. Re-trying CCI blazers because my first expirience with it in November of last year was not very good at all. Failures to fire often but I must've gotten a ****** box or something. Shot somewhere from 100-200 out of that 525 box and each left the barrel. Where part of CA are you from, if you don't mind me asking?

I like to call it "The Armpit". I'm at the southern end of the central valley if that's a clue
