Bolt wont lock back on empty when using B.A.D. lever
I have a BAD on my AR so i figured id modify one and add it to my 15-22 as well. Ive noticed that the bolt will not lack back reliably with it. anyone else had this problem? could the extra weight on the bolt release have something to do with it?

Could be. Is it not locking back at all, or just releasing when you release the magazine? It could be the magazine release hitting the lever, as the bolt release is slightly more forward than on a standard AR.

yes to that, and also the fact that the magazine follower springs in the 15-22 magazine do not provide as much tension as the springs in the typical AR magazine. number your mags and identify the ones that work with the BAD, and the ones that don't...and proceed accordingly.

The B.A.D. lever wouldn't work on my 15-22 either. Gave up on it, and just stuck it on my KAC SR-15 instead.

when i fire the last bullet it will not lock back on an empty mag....but if i leave the mag in and pull the charging handle it will lock open. i think its the weak springs on the factory ping pong paddle. the extra mass just slows it up enough to not catch the bolt on the way back into battery.
i see that someone on the board is designing a customer BAD lever. wonder if it will be light to solve this problem?

Is it a magpul? If so a few threads talk of bending it. Alum should be light enough.

I bent mine and it still wouldn't lock back on empty mag.

The bolt catch spring is plenty strong. It is the weak follower springs that are the problem.
Here is a thread about the same problem without the lever. No "hold open"

The lever I made ran fine on 2 of my 3 mags. I think its like said above. The mag spring maybe just a tad too weak. How many mags did you run it on.
