They are a hoot!!

Loading them is a bit tricky, My very first loading effort went a bit astray, and a round got stuck in the tower.
The only way to remove it, was to disassemble the drum (2 small screws and a large one)
but if loading is done with a little care, it should not a be problem.

After that initial hick-up, I since fired 800 rounds in the drum without a single problem.
I also like the fact that the bold stays open after the last shot
Ammo was cci blazer.

never knew my triggerfinger could get tired

I think I will pass on these magazines and they are one of the few things out there that don't look good on the 15-22. Too much bulk for me and more of a chance to have FTEs IMHO which I don't have now with the factory mags. If I ever get into a firefight with the gophers and squirrels I may wish I had one though.

I ordered one yesterday from Midway. It was ~$59. I use them in my Ar w/tacsol upper.
Mrs. Airedale doesn't like to reload so the drum works for her.
They work well.

If you are in CQB with Gophers, Squirrels, and may I add Rabbits. I find a bayonet always helps. You really don't want to go hand to paw. They will all bite your hand.
Just me: some like carrying a entrenching tool (aka shovel).

I think the 15-22 has great lines and I just can't see a drum hanging underneath improving the looks, or handling any. I don't mind taking time to load and change mags, save me a little ammo. If I had drums my trigger finger would be worn down to the nub. I guess it's whatever floats your boat. Just my unsolicited opinion.

Don't hesitate to buy either the drums or stick mags. A good friend of mine was involved in the development and debugging. I have several prototypes. They are reliable and much better than alternatives which came before, especially those from another well known manufacturer of .22 conversion kits.

FYI: From the beginning, the intent was to be sure the Black Dog mags would run on fast firing full autos, such as the Thompson with a .22 conversion kit. Depending on which one you have and how you set it up, rate of fire may be from 600 to nearly 1200 rounds per minute. The drums and sticks keep up. I like them.

So you should have few, if any, problems with a simple .22 semiauto rifle, if it is in tune and well maintained.

I have a drum and it has been flawless. And let me tell you if you shoot in any "tactical" rimfire matches it is awesome. I never have to reload on a course of fire which definetly makes me faster. Shot 7 stages today and I had an advantage on 4 stages which were over 25 shots.
