Default Help me set-up my MP 15-22

Hello,

This is my first post on this forum. I bought a S&W MP 15-22 S/N starting with DVP from a local gun store recently.

I have put 1500 rounds of Winchester Dynapoint GT through it thus far with only a few FTF's. The firing pin left good indentations which tells me the issue may have been ammo related and that does not bother me at all.

The rifle had all the blue springs inside on the Bolt and the FCG. I am in the process of setting this up to mimic my actual rifle which is a Noveske N4 set up with:

- Aimpoint T1 in Larue mount

- Geiselle SD-E two stage trigger

- LMT SOPMOD stock w/ VLTOR A5 extension

- Tango Down QD stubby grip

- Magpul MOE grip

- Surefire G2 in a VLTOR mount

- PWS FSC 556 MB

- VTAC 2pt. sling

Troy flip ups (I don't mind the fixed sights on my M&P but if I come across some cheap flip ups I will buy them.

This MP 15-22 will be used for fun, training, and to introduce new shooters to the rifle.

So far I have not added any thing to the MP 15-22 but in the near future I am going to start off with a sling set-up. I am looking for advice on how to set-up a 2 point sling.

One idea I was throwing around was a Midwest Industries #13 rear mount on the receiver extension, Magpul sling attachment on the front rail, and a CQD two point/one point convertible sling which I think uses HK hooks.

My second concern is the trigger. I am looking for the most dead nuts reliable 2 stage trigger I can buy for this rifle. I noticed that the trigger pins are recessed in the lower receiver though so can I use regular trigger pins ?

Also what 2 stage trigger do you guys recommend ? I don't care if the 2 stage is clean, crisp, or light but I want it to help me emulate the feel of the 2 stage so I don't try to shoot off reset like with the single stage this comes with standard.

I shoot the two stage trigger by letting out the trigger all the way and pulling all the way through. I shoot the single stage triggers like I do my glock which is off reset.

As for the other accessories I was looking for cheaper alternatives to what I have on my rifle since this is not something I will be depending my life on or using as a duty weapon. I guess I'll come out and just say that I would be open to airsoft equivalents to some of these parts like the SOPMOD stock but I don't know where to find those things.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I would start by checking NcStar to see what they have. Their prices are low and my experence with them has been good.

I went the magpul route on mine and I love it:
xtm rail covers, miad grip, afg2, mbus g2 folding sights

Ncstar light /mount and rifle case

Vortex sparc for the optics.

not exactly the cheapest stuff, but none of it is airsoft, and it was all very reasonable pricewise, and easy to install.

For a cheaper alternative to mimic your Aimpoint, you might consider a Primary Arms MicroDot. The factory sights on the 15-22 weigh a half pound so I replaced them with MBUS.

I like the primary arms T-1 style optic. That looks perfect and on their site it looks like they sell it with a mount which allows lower 1/3rd co-witness.

The two biggest items I have no clue on what to do about are the SOPMOD stock and the trigger.

The trigger especially will make a big difference to me. A two stage trigger will help me train for my 5.56 rifle with the SD-E.

Can't help you on the trigger, but I have heard folks say the Operator stock from Rock River Arms is similar to the SOPMOD. I'm not familiar with either.

Sopmod is nice but expensive for the 15-22, wait what am I talking about lol. I have the spikes battle trigger in mine, no over travel, crisp, smooth and for $60 its not a bad option. I run the Primary Arms micro dot, can't go wrong there, good optic and good people to deal with.

I'll second the M3 or Micro Dot from Primary Arms. Their Vortex Strikefire is a dandy also. I have one of those mounted on my M&15 .223

I like the Strikefire, too. I have two, but will be replacing one with a Vortex Viper PST 1-4x24mm scope. Vortex has a lifetime warranty and excellent customer service. Their SPARC would suit your purposes well. It is more expensive than the Primary Arms, but Vortex's customer service and lifetime warranty are worth the additional cost. The SPARC runs $199.99.

If you go the vortex route I highly recommend opticsplanet. If you do a quick search on google you can usually find a coupon code for at least 5% off. Mine was $189.99 and it shipped free

2 MOA Dot. They are awesome scopes. I read somewhere that these have tested on 375 H&R rifles!!! The Vortex Strikeforce scope I bought at Primary Arms did come with a mount that allowed for co-witness.

Sorry, didn't add that. They sell to large whole salers, and dealers.
What I meant was to look for their products, and products labeled UTG. They import some stuff, and make the UTG stuff in USA.
Leapers has been big in Airsoft stuff for years.
I have a UTG forgrip on my 15-22. Like it alot.

Default We have too many options

Granted light weight is all the rage. Personally I feel that one's "weight reference point" is something that needs to be consistent especially in tactical training, whatever that point is. I built mine up to emulate the weight of my trusty Bushmaster so I'm not stuck aiming a 'feather' at targets one day, & the weight/quality of Bsh.Master.223 the next..just my 2 cents.
Oh! Rock River's 2 stage trigger is 'nutnfancy's' choice on you tube..but that is a such a personal preference issue. Looking back I would have shopped around much more for value ..too late now it's decked out..almost!..

I just found a decent alternative to a legit LMT SOPMOD. Umarex makes a "Special Forces Crane Stock" which I believe has a mil spec diameter opening which should fit the MP 15-22.

You can buy it directly from Umarex or a 3rd party. In terms of the light I am still torn on whether I should pull the trigger on a cheap and used G2 with a VTAC plastic mount or a cheap walther light with 30 mm ring.

In terms of the trigger I believe I might hold off until Geissele release their new budget 2 stage trigger.

I've already ordered a grip pod for this as well in hopes of adding a bit more weight but making it functional. I don't think there is any thing reasonable I can do to help emulate the weight of my N4 with that 12" SWS rail but thats ok.
