Greetings,
I own the pistol, the MOE version, and the Performance Center version. Not one problem so far attributal to the the guns.
If I was going to do it again, I wouldn't buy the PC because it hasn't proven to be any more accurate than the MOE and it costs $200 more. Maybe it's just me(likely). The pistol's fun but I should of spent the $400 on ammo.
All in all though, I think S&W has done a great job of addressing the different issues, judging what I've read, and think you won't be living right unless you own one.

At my range, there are 2 owners of the Sig 522, one owner of the Mossberg Tactical 22, two GSG-5 22's, one GSG AK47 22 and about 5 of us with the S&W 15-22.

I have been able to test each of these rifles at 25 yards.

I found the Mossberg, SIG and S&W to be fairly equal in the accuracy department at that range. The GSG's are strong performers, however, I did not want an HK or AR look. The Mossberg is AR looking but in fact has some departure points in its design like the molded in handle for one.

The SIG and Mossberg have very large magazines as far as width is concerned and the GSG has a very small magazine in size

I chose the S&W 15-22 over the four of those other rifles.
I have some latent knowledge on the AR platform, so the learning curve on trigger and rail parts was considered a plus for the S&W.
Pretty glad I did. Mine has been a flawless performer over 2000+ rounds and quite accurate at 25 and 50 yard ranges.

I chose the 15-22 over the mossberg 22. true the mossberg has a carry handle but the sights and carry handle are molded into the gun, just like the B.A.D lever and the charging handle which serve no purpose other than looks but for $229 i guess you get what you pay for. I seen an HK 22 but didnt get a chance to handle it. Also seen the gsg .22 with the fixed stock swapped out, it looked nice but one again i didnt get the chance to handle it.

But as far as the choice i made for me, I couldn't be happier with my 15-22.

There are 10's of thousands of these guns out there, you only read about a handful of problems now and then, and not everyone posts how awesome their rifle is. The 15-22 is a solid rifle, reliable, and packed with useful features. If there happens to be a problem S&W fixes it relatively fast and at no cost to you.

When I was looking to get a .22, it came down to the Sig 522 and the 15-22. After talking it over at my local gun shop/range and handling both... I decided on the 15-22, I've run 553 rounds through it. I had 2 ammo issues, both were the ammo and not the gun. (ftf) Its a great gun and there is a "coolness" factor to it as well.. Just get ready to buy magazines.. I have 5 25 round mags and am looking at getting the drum mag soon..

( S&W, or any other company out there... how about a 50 round mag or a 100 round drum...)

Thanks leaning to the 15-22 Mag Pul. I want to put my YHM Mite one it.
Black Dog has a 50 rnd drum for it. I have one for my 10/22 works 100%.
They make a tower conv to change my 10/22 to a 15-22 tower or just the
drum. PM me for a great place to get one.

Well.... I have both and shoot both with a can.

If the ONLY criteria was for the can, I would go with the 15-22 because the action is quieter with the bolt banging back on a piece of plastic rather than the Sig's bolt banging back on steel. Someone was going to make us some bolt shock buffers (not for sound reduction mind you, but for wear prevention) but I haven't seen them yet. The 15-22 action kinda has a 'clunk' sound. The Sig has a sharp 'clack'. Some may read this as silly, but you really notice these things absent muzzle report. One thing about the Sig is that the stock folds so you can leave the can on the rifle and still use the shorter rifle cases. For example, all I have to do is fold the stock and the Sig will fit into it's 33in rifle case. Can't do that with the 15-22.

The 15-22 is light weight and an AR platform. If those are high on the priority list then that's the best choice. The Sig is a full pound heavier and that includes the 8oz of factory sights that the 15-22 wears compared to the Sig with no sights. IMO, the stock on the Sig is much more user friendly because it's sits lower-- you don't need risers for optics, and ear muffs aren't getting in the way so much. Both rifles are reliable. The Sig is more accurate with a wide array of ammo, and the manual does not include a list of ammo not to use . My Sig SWAT version of the 522 is significantly more expensive than the 15-22, but the swiss version (no quad rail) isn't.

I could not chose... so I bought both.
