Smile DIY 18rnd magazine

Hey all I'm new on the forum. I know this has been done several times before ,but i thought I would just add my technique and outcome for those interested.

I cut out the section in between the tape.

I also cut a piece off the bottom retainer.

Here is a comparison.

Sorry for the poor quality pictures if anyone want more info or better pics I'd be happy to help.

Because it more closely resembles an AR-15 magazine

What would be the approximate advantage to that?

Probably more of a disadvantage since you lose 7 rounds but I like they way it looks. Personal preference i guess and since it is a copy more or less of an AR-15 why not have 1 magazine that makes it look more like it.

The length of that 18rd mag might be a good option for those who use a bipod.

Exactly. I use a bipod on mine and the factory mag is too long to use off the bench.

Also makes it fit in standard AR mag pouches better, but I will not be chopping mine down--better to use pouches that retain on tension than with bungee or velcro flaps.
