Default picatinny rails VS weaver rails

i know picatinny rails are different than weavers but do the accessories match up well? lookin at a foregrip for my 15-22 and i just noticed that it said it was for a weaver style rail...would it fit on my picatinny? unfortunately the owner doesn't really know either...any help would be appreciated!!

GunTech : Picatinny Rails, Weaver Rails, What

The accessory will almost certainly fit on your 15-22, but it may be loose. The 15-22 rails are plastic anyway, so hopefully it will be more on the tight side and you can squeeze it on for a solid fit.

I'd be shocked if it doesn't fit fine.

Default Weaver rails

I have a Hi-Point 995ts and those are standard weaver rails, I bought a grip pod for it and had to widen a slot or two and it fits great. I'm also going to have to do this for my MBUS. All those accessories are for picatinny rails. So I would think if It was made for a weaver rail it should fit on a picatinny rail just fine. The slots on weaver rails are just slightly smaller but I think you should be ok.

Read this article:

Weaver vs. Picatinny Scope Rails « Daily Bulletin

Basically it concludes, "Boiled down, it means that accessories designed for a Weaver system will, in most cases, fit on a ‘Picatinny’ system. The reverse, however, is probably not the case. Due to the larger recoil groove, ‘Picatinny’ accessories will not fit a Weaver system. There are, of course, exceptions to every rule, but for a good rule-of-thumb, [full-width] ‘Picatinny’ won’t fit Weaver, but Weaver will fit ‘Picatinny’.”

I bought one at a Roanoke,Va gun show about a year ago. A guy from Raleigh, NC was selling them for $55.00. It fits works for me but the rifle will rock some from side to side. I took the bolt out and use the spring load to hold it in place. This allows me to adjust on the go or slide off for storage.

I have a hi-point 4595ts that I wantr to attach a red dot and gps grip bipod onto. Like the 995, it has weaver rails and my attachments are picatinny. What would the procedure be to adapt the weaver rail to my add-ons if i file it for them to fit? Thank you, navyseadog

Have you even tried them to see if they fit? Do so before filing on anything. You might be surprised.
