Ten round mag...takes only nine
Any one got experience of the ten round mag only holding nine rounds?
And of course, how to resolve the issue, if anyone knows.
Many thanks from the U.K.

Sorry to hear that. Maybe it's some slick UK magazine variant. LOL.

Is your mag brand new? Maybe the spring is just real stiff? Try putting something in the hole where the load assist is supposed to be and see if you can get one more to fit in there. If that doesn't work, just call up S&W and tell them about it, I'm sure they'll replace it.

make sure the rounds are staggered properly in the magazine. If they aren't staggered properly, you will lose some efficiency in the spacing, and will not be able to load all 10 rounds.

Stuffing Magazines
First, What model of firearm is the mag for? Second, What color is the follower in the magazine?

I have 4 ten rounders(2 shorties, 2 10/25's) and have never had that problem. Give S&W a call if it still isn't fixed. Stiff springs, maybe?

i have had s&w 9ve,40veand 3m&p 40c the mags were all tough to load when new. you can try this check, after you have nine rounds loaded take your hand and push down on the head of the last bullet in the mag, if you get a fair amount of give(springy action) then most likely you got room for 1 more. if not you got a problem that i never heard of.
turnejm has a good idea also the type of gun and the color of the follower mean a lot because they are all color coded to a particular gun

Just picked up two 10 rnders and shot them both two weeks ago loaded to 10 rounds, staggered correctly, no problems whatsoever.

I recently bought a Para .45 that has 14 round mags, and I could not get more than 10 in them, called dealer, thay said they couldn't either, not without a mag lula loader. Got one-problem solved, and oh so much faster / nicer. Flapjack.
