Strictly looks- it gives the appearance of an 11'' barrel, the threads are 3'' up inside the suppressor to coverup 3'' of the barrel length. I know- just imagine it's a 15-22....

does the barrel still need to be threaded for the DPMS slip over flash Hider? or does anyone know of one that does not need to have the threaded barrel?

Yes it does so if you've got a non-threaded version you'll need to either get it threaded or try looking here at the thread adapter: M&P15-22 Barrel Tools and Accessories - M&P15-22 Parts, Tools, and Accessories

I just odered one of these, couple of questions for those who might know.
does this add any length?
and when you say it covers 3" of the barrel does that measurment include the threads, reason I ask is because I am gonna put on a A2 sight and it looks like it will be a tight fit with the 2 on the barrel.
Thanks

The thread adapter will not work with that flash hider. Our adapter is about the same diameter as their shroud FH combo.
If you want the look without the slots for a non threaded barrel, then get a non threaded barrel shroud for the 15-22.
Barrel Shrouds : Tacticool22, Tactical .22 Rifle Parts and Accessories (Shameless plug)
There are some custom lengths available too. The lengths available are 2.1, 2.8, 3.1, 3.7 and 3.8 inch. Only one of each is in stock.
If you want a shroud and FH, we have a workaround for that too.
If you really, really want their combo...Get your barrel threaded.
