what's your favorite bulk ammo?
For those that buy plink nuggets in boxes over 300+ rounds, what do you buy?
I'd appreciate some suggestions.
My main 'wants' are reliable feeding and ammo that leaves the barrel relatively clean and acceptably accurate.
I'm not as concerned about velocity or penetration.

I just picked up 3 different packs of bulk 22 and I'm gonna give them a whirl. Fed 550 was one of them - can't wait to try

I wish there was more than walmart to find ammo in Cali. we've got gun shops but the price keeps bringing me back to walmart. And there isn't much difference in selection. I read about all these different brands of 22 out there but unless I go online, I'm picking from the same batches. Winchester, Remington, CCI etc
I wish I could just go to the store and buy bulk Elay, Lapua

I prefer the Federal 550 Bulk pack, copper coated. These seem to run through everything I have with no problems at all. Even my model 18 has no ejection issues with these, which seems to be inherent with that gun. My autos run without a hitch. Remington on the other hand gives me fits. Winchester ammo seems fine too, but not quite as good as Federal.

I too am really fond of the Federal 555. However, I think the CCI Blazer .22 is just a bit better, at least in my guns. Its not a big enough difference to matter, but I did notice that. Granted, the Blazer is not a true "bulk pack" but it is close enough in price to qualify.
I finally got a K22 this summer, so between that and my re found interest in .22 rifles, I've been shooting a lot of both types of ammo. The Federal is $19.97 at Walmart, the CCI was $19.99 a brick at a LGS, but honestly I think they had it mismarked(so I bought 4 or 5 bricks!) They've sold out, so the best I've seen is about $24.95 at a different LGS, and closer to at least $30 everywhere else.

I've been thru a case of Winchester 36gr HP Super-X in the 333 bulk packages with minimal stoppages in my two-year old M&P15-22 with first generation magazines. Shot some Federal Classic 40gr yesterday without incident as well.

My 15-22 is an early model, the mag that came with it is first generation and I've yet to have any issues with Federal 550 bulk pack from Wal-Mart and I've put a few boxes through it now. The gun has never been back to Smith for the upgraded springs and whatever else it is they do to the early ones. New mags, old mags its been flawless and it's a blast to shoot!

The 15-22 will digest anything, so the cheapest is my favorite. Usually the cheapest is Fed Bulk Pack but lately it seems most everything is 18.99-19.99 at the local Walmart. Walmart is now selling Winchester 555 for $18.99. I tried a box and found the report to be much more consistent than Fed Bulk Pack and on par with CCI Blazer. When shooting suppressed I use CCI Standard Velocity. Best price I have found is at Dick's Sporting Goods $25/500.

For the most part I shoot in the following order; CCI Blazer, Federal Auto Match and Federal 550 bulk. The Blazers are the best for quality in my opinion and come in boxes of 500 packed in boxes of 50.
The Blazer and Auto Match seem to be the most consistent shot to shot which makes them more accurate for me. All three of the loads I shoot seem relatively clean and don't lead up the bore either.
It's not uncommon for me to shoot 500-1000 rounds from a couple different handguns in one sitting so I don't tolerate FTF/FTE very well, and these 3 choices seem to be the best for me in a variety of revolvers, pistols, and all manner of rifles.

federal bulk 550
winchester m22
cci tactical
winchester m22 would be at the top of the list, but there are always a few in the box with bad primers.

My fingers are numb from loading federal 550 yesterday. Went through the whole box, and a brick of Winchester in my XD, and another 50 of Magtech. Seriously need to get a speed loader. Federal 550 box IMO is best cheap 22 round. Not one misfeed or misfire, and cleanup was not too bad, ran a barrel brush with bore cleaner, then ran a bore snake and some Rem-Oil. I have another 550 left but will be picking up probably 5 more boxes today

I had one box left of Winchester 333 in my ammo stash to get rid of, and shot it off today. This was the worst batch I've ever gotten, malfunctions all over the place. The rounds looks very dirty, it must have been made at the height of the "scare".
Luckily all my .22 ammo now is Fed bulk.

If we're talking about straight up BULK, I think I have to go (and you do too!!) with the Federal value pack bulk 525 36 gr JHPs... I mean they're a great deal when they're like $20 a box of 525, they get to awesome deals at like $15 a box, and sometimes they have redonkulous buys for thousands of rounds in plastic ammo boxes and it's just great buy for great ammo.
hOWEVER, I have recently been shooting and stocking Federal AutoMatch, a 325rd box that was initially $14.49 at WalMart, now is like $15-16 a box. These are lead round nose, 40 gr, semi premium semi value rounds... I find that they are utterly reliable in both my autoloaders, my Remington 597 sporter rifle and of course my 15-22 tactical autoloader. And they shoot pretty accurately when shooting for dimes (Shooting for dimes AKA trying to make small small groups, coverable with a dime, etc) with my Savage Mark II which is redonkulous accurate.
So the Fed Bulk 525 is probably the BEST CHEAPEST.... the Fed AutoMatch is the best quality for price IMHO.... but the best of the best IMHO is CCI.
I would take CCI if I could only stock one brand of rimfire ammo- I mean what else would you need if you had limitless supply of Mini Mags? 36 gr JHP and 40 gr LRN Mini Mags will do it all and do it all perfectly. PLUS CCI Makes the Blazer 500 rd boxes and CCI Standard Velocity RN 500 rd boxes - just great great ammos. Not to mention the specialty ammos, Velocitator and Stingers etc. etc.
Oh baby I get excited when I think about stocking massive quantities of various CCI rimfire ammos.... it makes me feel so prepared, so tactical , and so nefariously accurate and reliable!!!! BWAA HAA HA HA HA!!

Fedderal 550 works good for me in everything except the Sig I used to have...it wouldn't shoot anything but CCI minimags and even had problems with them!

My M&P15-22 eats up Federal 525 round bricks of ammo like a fat kid eating candy and is pretty accurate. I can get a brick of that stuff for 17 dollars at my local gun store so I just stick with that.

My new favorite is the Federal 525. I got 2100 at Cabelas yesterday for $69 and that was with a dry box. If I take out the $15 they charge for the box that comes out to $.026 a shot.

I have used the Federal champion blue box/red box i bout those about 6 years ago. they were 12.99 each for 1000 rounds all togeather... they work flawless. No jams, no ftf, fte. I have also used Old fed 550 pack 36gr from about 10 years, those were good to another 1000. I have used the "New" Federal lighting 40gr again, no ftf, fte's..I finaly broke down and bought a 555 box of Winchester36 copper washed and had 3 ftf's, 1 fte with a double feed.. idk if it me, but i noticed the winchersters are alittle cleaner than the federals..
i also used some 1994 made russian "junior" ammo... doesnt work at all. Ive had so many ftf, fte i didnt even bother to count....my 22/45 will shoot them all day long with minamal ftf's, fte's. in all i have alittle over 6000 rounds threw my rifle. Springs are still stiff, and mags still work great. no mag problems.

i've used that a few times with no issues as well, just not as good a deal as the copper plated 550 box, so i opt for the bulk.

Just re the AutoMatch not as 'good as a deal as the Federal Bulk 525' value packs- I mean that is by letter of the definition, correct. But the Federal AutoMatch is of course a higher line of ammo, different price point.
For me at least, AutoMatch was intoduced at Walmart early this year. It was like $14.49 per 325, recently went up to $14.99, and other stores are $15.99- $17.99. Now of course the Federal Bulk 525 is basically the best overall deal in Rimfire- best price AND best quality/consistency for the cheap stuff. AND-- Fed Bulk 525 often has huge deals, Cabeals and the like. I have never been able to take advantge of the great sales, cause I've not had the money when they're available.
The worst part is, my Dad bought him a vacation place campin in the mountains, about 10 mins from the PA Cabelas, the biggest Cabelas there is. You walk in there its just OUT OF THIS WORLD- anf they have a whole ammo section for super deals. 10 different ammos you can get loaded full in the plastic boxes. They had like 6000 rounds of Fed Bulk recently, right next to a few deals of CCI ammo. My Dad bought 3, 500-rd cases of 7.62x39mm for the AK I bought him. Plus they usually have good deals on no-frills, basic premium AE 5.56 brass cased.
I just could EASILY drop $1,000 on a few ammo specials, EASY. Doh!

My "lil' friends" love CCI Blazer. My local farm supply store had it on sale for $14 with tax per 500. I bought 10 bricks. Very accurate, not too dirty. The first .22lr I bought in bulk was the deal from Cabella's on Federal. 2100 rounds of noisemakers. Doesn't group for poop out of any of my 15-22s. Works all right but I'm blessed in that I haven't had any function issues with any ammo I've ran. Sure, you're going to get a FTfire issue once in a while but that's the nature of the round.

Haha. My local gunshot sells exploding targets but they require a higher caliber to set off.
I'm spoiled, I can see the bullet holes through the scope out to 120ish...
On topic. I've shot a lot of the federal bulk and had no problems from it either. My gun shoots the 'American Eagle' red box stuff the most accurate.

I love CCI Standard Velocity as well for when I want to shoot good groups off bench. By far the most accurate 22LR bulk ammo imo.
Since I sent my 15-22 back to S&W for FTE issues, it came back loving the Federal 375/550 bulk packs which it used to FTF/FTE with every 4 rounds before with.

I decided to try out Fed Automatch when it came out this spring, and I like it quite a bit. Having said that- CCI is my absolute favorite brand. CCI Standard Velocity is a damn good ammo and in my opinion its' better than "bulk" ammo its like 'good-to-better' rimfire ammo but usually is priced around bulk prices. Both great ammo- I like to have a lot of different ammos if I can, for SHTF.

I also love CCI Blazer packs- usually great ammo and great deals. The only problems I ever seen to have is , CCI Standard Velocity vs. Blazer bulk - they're both great, both around 500 round packs, both similar in function and price.
NOT THAT MidwayUSA is a good place to buy ammo (MidWayUSA is ONLY good to buy stuff on sale or esp. closeout- the regular prices is full pop markup retail). but for use as an EXAMPLE-
Blazer Ammo .22LR round nose - 500 round, $23.49 (Which I find to be a high price for this- I would pay $19.99 max- only plalce that gets so much for this is like Dick's Sportin Goods, also a place that has high high high prices except for their sales- when they put 40, 9, or say 12ga. on sale you can get good savings, buying regular price from the counter is full markup.
CCI Standard Velocity .22LR round nose 500 rounds - $38.99
WOW - now help me here, do I have maybe my facts wrong and I am forgetting what ammo I pay what price for?
$23.49 for Blazer and ***, $38.99 for CCI Standard??!! tell me this seems redonk and is normally $20. Because, @ $38.99 for standard velocity - it would be cheaper to buy Mini Mags! @ $7 / per 1000, $7 x 5 = $35, I'd buy 500 rounds of Mini Mags EVERY TIME, NEVER would I buy the SV.
NOT

The only ammo I have used through mine is the Walmart Federal 550 bulk pack. It has never failed me once yet.
