Desert Tan is the color you are seein, Magpul calls that Desert Tan, Dark Earth. Also every other manufacturer has their own version of Dark Earth, some call it, figure that, Desert Tan. Don't try to understand it, I tried, it's crazy. The colors are BLACK, DARK EARTH, OD GREEN, from Magpul. If you paint it yourself, and want that Desert Tan look, you will have to spray Magpul's Dark Earth because it will be a shade different from the spray can Desert Tan. Good Luck

Duracoat actually has the matching paints named accordingly. Called Magpul FDE.

I'll also concur that Brownell's Alumahyde II in Coyote matches Magpul FDE best. Duracoat's so-called Magpul FDE is way too light and people have reported needing to mix in a little bit of Matte Black to get the color right. Alumahyde takes forever to cure though without an oven so get ready to be without whatever your painting for at LEAST a week or two.

Since I have some left over AR15 parts, I decided to take a stab at painting my stock, pistol grip and forward grip. Got the paint at Home Depot and did my own pattern for a desert tan with highlights of brown cross netting, let me know what you guys think:

Looking for a flat clear spray to help with the durability part, hard to find them now. In fact I can't find spray paint in FLAT, it's either Semi or Gloss, what give.
