Default Range report

Went to the range tonight. Took my cousin, it was his first time touchin a gun. It was fun. But the reason im reportng, is becuase i had 12 FTF's with winchester 555 box. the 36 grain. I also had 6 double feeds and 4 FTE's. Im thinking its the ammo becuase when i run Federal threw it I never had a problem. Ive put almost 4000 rounds of Federal 40grain. This was the third time i used winchesters and I didnt have any problem shootin them threw the Ruger 22/45 but the rifle was alot more finiky.. Idk if i should contact smithandwesson because this is the 3rd time that i had these same problems...Other than that the gun ran good. I introduced my cousin to shootin and now he wants a gun. we live in Ilinois so we got him to sign up for his FOID. he lives in CHicago. We went to the range in Crook county, and there ammo was $17.95 a box for 9mm. and it was only PMC bronze. I pay $11.95 a box for Federal, but i live in a diffrent county. They had a m&p sport there wich m lookin to get, but i was told im not allowed to buy, or touch them becuase im not a cop. What? I guess in Crook county you cant buy an "Evil" gun without bein a cop.Not only that but they wanted $745.95 for it.isnt the msrp $739? Wow. BUt it was a cool experiance just watchin some you introduced into shooting.

Glad to hear your recruiting ppl to the dark side . But with the ftf, fte and double feeds are probaly ammo/ loading IMHO. Also ive never had any type of luck with winchester in my or my friends 15-22. and what the hell, you had to be a cop to touch it?? im sorry but thank you jesus i live in texas and can have any gun i want as long as i can pay for it/ the stamp.

Happy shooting
Matt

Failures to feed are almost sure to be magazine related. Could be bad magazine or bad loading of the magazine. .22LR (or any rimmed cartridge) is not easy to feed thru a columnar magazine and care must be taken to both stagger the rounds side to side and to keep the round's rim in front of the rim underneath. A cartridge standing at attention in the magazine is surely caused by it's rim having been behind the next round.

I'm into my second case of Winchester 333 with minimal problems, even with the "first generation" magazines from a couple of years ago. Same Super-X ammunition as in the 555 boxes.

NOTE: The M&P15-22 uses controlled feed. The rim has to slip up and under the extractor for the round to feed properly. The extractor has to be clean and lubricated for this to happen. If you slowly hand feed the rifle you can see this operation. (This is different from the M16/AR15 design which is "stuff feed" whereby a round is stuffed in the chamber and the extractor snaps over the rim.)

I load the mags the way the manual recomends pull down alittle, put one in and so on. I have never had problems with federal. I have 3 mags, there numbered in the order i bought them. ive ran the gun slow, and i ran the gun fast. All the rounds are stagared. The FTFire have the dent from the fp but fail to go off. Im gonna try Blazer next bought a 500 round box for 17 bucks. Yea, i was a little paturbed to when he told me that about the rifle..They were sellin 30 round ak mags for $25 a peice. Crook county is so F'd up it aint funny. 1 box of 9mm pmc was $17.95 a box... 45's were $28.97 a box for pmc. W#inchester was 30.99 for 45's and winchester 9mm was 19.99.....I buy 9mm for $11.97 a box at walmart. i havent been to that place since i was 15, im 26 now. I cant wait to move back to AZ.
