Default MP 15-22 butt stock adaptor

Hi all,

Anyone running this adaptor on there 15-22 pistol? I tried emailing the seller through youtube but have not heard back from him in awhile. Thanks

Or if someone can build me a part like this, please let me know. This is for a buffer tube not a butt stock. Perfectly legal here in my state.

Isn't a pistol with a buttstock illegal? Makes it a rifle with a barrel shorter than 16 inches, doesn't it?

No, it's fine if it's a registered SBR.
Also legal for a buffer tube in my state.

Hopefully this thread doesn't turn into a trolling illegal/tax stamp talking point jacked thread.

This is a viable mod to anyone with a 15-22 rifle that may want to actually convert to a Mil-Spec receiver extension. Doesn't look much more complicated than cutting off the integrated receiver extension, drilling a hole for the adapter to fit into and fastening into place.

Seems like a waste to me. Why not spend the BATF fees and paperwork on a real AR lower and shorty .22 conversion upper?

^ this little thing called money. I've weighed my options, doing the above would cost me hundreds more. I dont have enough devalued fiat dollars so I can't afford to be that tacticool. Maybe one day soon though.

I've seen several posts asking if a standard AR fixed stock could be installed on a 15-22. With this adapter, that would be a viable option now.

Ya, i thought this would be a great way to customize the mp15-22 more. Just to have more options. That's my only beef with the design is that they didn't make enough interchangeable ar15 parts. I know its possible to make a fully ar15 22lr but you WILL PAY.

Why would you want an AR receiver extension tube on a 15-22? The 15-22 has what is needed built in, the ability to put an AR stock on. A real receiver extension will do nothing additional for you.

As to the shorty conversion, if a few hundred dollars will make or break you, you might want to reconsider getting into Class 3...

Really? Can you put a fixed carbine stock on a 15-22? No.... There are numerous aftermarket stocks that need the AR15 receiver extension not the molded in part on the 15-22. So there is a legit reason for adding the AR15 extension.

I've been thinking a lot about adding a folding stock to my 15-22. My plan is to cut off the plastic receiver extension tube even with the back of the receiver and then bolt a piece of pic rail vertically through the plastic of the receiver itself. I'd would just drill 3 or small holes through the Picatinny section and then all the way through the receiver plastic. Then just tap the receiver holes for a 5mm screw and bolt on the pic section.
Due to the popularity of the Sig MCX there is now a variety of folding and collapsible or even fixed stock adapters that bolt directly to a piece of vertical pic rail. I've done this with two different SKS rifles so far (made them both folding stock SKSs) but not yet found the time to do it on my 12/22.

It is a simple process, but getting the holes vertical and perfectly matched with the pic rail section and the receiver does require lots of care.

Jeff
