15-22 Parts list with part numbers
I did a search and couldn't find this list if it exists, I tried the sticky section as well and no luck. Does anybody have this? Maybe we can sticky it.

I don't know if such an animal even exists (for the public), but I would also like to have a parts list and exploded view! Good luck with your search!

it doesn't really matter if the part numbers get posted openly or not since when you call S&W customer service, they only allow you to order "certain" parts. and even this privilege varies by who answers your phone call...some individuals take the order very helpfully without comment and others just say it is not available for sale as a service item and the WHOLE rifle has to be sent in to get the one part.
i had some two year old magazines that had the springs get weak and would not consistantly actuate the bolt stop after the last shot. S&W wouldn't sell me the new springs, but they did allow me to return all the magazines with weak springs and replaced them with brand new magazines at their cost. nice, but turn-around time was two weeks...fortuantely i had a lot of other magazines.

I suggested a parts number/with photo thread a while back.
need a new upper
People said they liked the idea; but in reality, only those who have received parts in the past are able to supply numbers, etc.
Lack of factory supplied exploded view diagrams and parts lists causes S&W to drop further down on the list of acceptable manufacturers next time I buy a firearm.
I really don't like having to wait two-three weeks for a small, easy to replace part. In the case of the 15-22, S&W has a captive market. When it comes to revolvers, Semi-Auto and ARs, I'll remember the poor Customer service that S&W has...
(Yes, I believe that failure to supply and exploded view diagram and parts list is poor customer service.)
Not all replacement parts need to be installed by a gunsmith.

Patent
Scroll to the end of the page and link to the images. If you can see images (I can't) the parts should show. Requires a TIF reader, or something. Claimed to work in Quicktime. If you can see the images let know how.

I was able to download a plug-in that was suggested by the gov site. I downloaded most of the .tif images by doing them one at a time, the plug-in won't do multiple of images in a single click. It also will save a.pdf file at the same time.
There are 17 "images" with about 7 of them being an image of the text of the patent.
Don't know about the copyright aspect of patent application images.

Which plug in worked for you. I tried one and still NOGO.

Correct... I was the one who purchased it.. But bear in mind that's just the upper shell, you get nothing else.. It's a piece of plastic with a metal insert where the barrel goes in. You get no other pieces.

sorry for bringing back an old thread.
i saw a recent thread about buying an upper. i used tacticool's adapter, shaved down my stops and made an m4 type upper.
anyways, i was thinking of buying a new upper and barrel. i want to make a stock upper assembly and maybe throw a scope on that one. that way i can switch out uppers for different situations.
i am going to use my stock barrel nut and handguard. as far as the ejector goes, how is it held in the barrel? what part would i need to order? thanks for any help.

I was able to order the upper receiver today and the threaded barrel. Tom said that he would not be able to sell me the ejector. Supposedly there is a local authorized gunsmith here that I can get the ejector from... IDK.
2nd day shipping for the receiver and barrel was $112 to Hawaii.

Soundwave, I think $112 for the barrel and upper shipped to Hawaii for $112 is very reasonable!

Kinda strange that they will sell you the barrel and not the ejector. Wondering if the barrel comes with the rear extension..... (I think the 15-22 uses one)

Yeah, strange that they won't sell you the ejector. I'm also curious if the barrel comes with the collar and pins to hold the collar in place. Please update when you receive it. If not, do you think you could get a part number for the collar and pins that could possibly be ordered with the ejector?

hopefully the barrel will come with those parts. they won't give out the part number it seems. Initially, Tom told me that I couldn't even order the barrel or upper receiver. When I gave him the part number he then said that I could order it.
I had the part number for the ejector, but he still wouldn't let me order it. Not sure why Bx_x was able to order it last year.

ok. well the barrel and upper receiver came in today. it is just the bare threaded barrel. since they won't give the parts without the part number, i don't know what i am going to do now.
well, i guess i will just throw the barrel in my closet. i did scratch up my barrel and i could always swap them out later on.

Were you going to try an authorized S&W dealer for the other parts?

Dealer may have been the wrong word, but I believe it was S&W that told sound wave about the authorized gunsmith. Hopefully they'll actually be able to get the part and provide it.
Seem like it might actually be one of the warranty stations listed on the S&W site:

I'm not sure what specifically makes a warranty station though. Seems like they are gun stores/smiths. But they may have more direct access to S&W parts that aren't normally available to the general public or even authorized dealers. Hopefully they're allowed or could be persuaded to sell parts directly to consumers.

Yeah, supposedly according to the guy at S&W, the guy on Molokai is authorized to do their repair and warranty work. Also that he could possibly get me the parts. I am not sure the gunsmith will just sell them to me, but I guess I can try.
as far as how he became a warranty station, I googled and I found this article about him.
Quote:
Chung has traveled all over the mainland for factory training in gun repair. He says his close connections with manufacturers around the country have gained him access to a lot of training not normally offered to civilians.

i contacted a local gunsmith. he said for me to drop off my barrel and my current rifle upper to him tomorrow. he said that he will either try to get the parts from S&W or he will fabricate the parts needed. He wouldn't give me a ballpark on how much it will cost if he has to make them himself though. Kind of scary.
Major, I think you may be right. This is starting to get a bit complicated. I may have been better off buying another 15-22. Oh well. Still, I am cautiously optimistic that the gunsmith can help me.
If he is able to get the part numbers, I will be sure to pass them on to you guys.

So far this still looks like the most complete parts list:
s&w404760000 firing pin :13.00
s&w404770000 firing pin spring :2.00
s&w404780000 pin, coil spring :1.00
s&w315430000 .22 extractor rev :5.00
s&w315610000 extractor spring :1.00
s&w406130000 extractor plunger :5.00
s&w407790000 BLUE bolt spring :?
s&w408300000 15-22 25rd fde :?
s&w404510000 upper : $19.99
S&w405020000 b106 22 AR bbl threaded 16.5" rev A
S&w404570000 ejector
I may have a new number to add for the barrel extension:
404560000
I haven't tried ordering it though. Notice the the holes for the roll pins aren't drilled.
Would be nice if this could be ordered. Even nicer if the ejector could be ordered.

Looks like I need to go through and do a new parts list image.
Drilling holes in the barrel extension won't be so bad if you have a drill press and
know the sizing and location (which can be determined from a factory piece).

Just called S&W and ordered a couple of 15-22 firing pins, firing pin springs, and recoil springs. The firing pin part number has changed will post when I get my invoice. They were most helpful. Also ordered some K frame internal firing pins for $3.49 each along with the springs.
I have experienced light primer strikes, so will experiment with cutting the firing pin spring about an 1/8 to 3/16 and see if that helps.

I'd like to add two part numbers:
Ejector, part # 404570000
Barrel Extension Rollpin, part # 404590000

I can confirm these part numbers, as all have been purchased over the last 6 months.
Extractor Rev M1 315430000
Extractor Spring Rev C1 315610000
Extractor Plunger MIM 406130000
Firing Pin Rev A 408170000
Firing Pin Spring Rev A 404770000
Recoil Spring Rev A 407790000
Ejector 404570000
I can't really tell for sure what the cost is for these. The way S&W does the invoice the price is not shown. You have to look at the credit card charges and they don't match the invoices half the time. They add a hold then it disappears and shows back up later. I still have items ordered for several months that haven't made it yet.

Reason: Additional PN for ejector & corrections.

I assume you are talking about the big spring on top of the bolt and bolt rails? If so, it is listed in the above post as a Recoil Spring Rev A. Is that what you are looking for?

loose SAFE switch
I replaced the pistol grip on my S&W M&P 15-22 with a MAGPUL grip. The two springs that the grip holds in place came out. I didn't know they were there. I reinstalled them with the MAGPUL grip.
Now the SAFE switch works loosely and the pin near it that moves to allow the upper and lower to separate is also loose. Were there other parts that came out when the springs came out? How do I fix this?
Any help will be most appreciated.

No, They are two much smaller springs. They fit into the lower receiver just to the rear of the trigger. The pistol grip holds them in place.
Thanks for replying.

Confused ??
jamessix, I did not reply to your question. The quote from me you have posted was to Dirsh concerning a post just above my post and it was referencing a recoil spring.
Try taking the grip off and make sure the springs didn't fold over or bind, and maybe try swapping positions with them. One of them doesn't have a hole in the grip, it just hits flush with the grip and compresses. I think I am correct on this but I haven't had one off in a good while.
