Thanks GonzoTX
pyper22 if you want a finely made shroud that gives your rifle that integrally suppressed look and has a great finish and no advertising on it, then check out Barrel Shrouds : Tacticool22, Tactical .22 Rifle Parts and Accessories
Your rifle will be shorter than it is with the flash hider.

All the info is on that link. If there is something missing, please let me know so I can add that information.
Or if something is not clear, let me know so I can fix that too.

Hand tight with a crush washer is fine. I have one that I don't even use the crush washer. Just hand tight with a glove, those grippy rubber dipped gardening kind, and it stays tight.

I swap around muzzle devices quite a bit on my .22s and just hand tighten them.

The overall length is 5/8" less than with a standard A1 or A2 flash hider.
A standard 15-22 has a 16.5 inch barrel, threaded or not. Even though all the literature says 16" barrel.
Here is a link to how the ATF measures barrel length http://www.atf.gov/publications/down...-chapter-2.pdf

the flash hider comes of easy, well at least for my rifle. all I did was put some duck tape of the flash hider and put a crescent wrench on it, and then just tapped it with a rubber mallet. It was easy and then just hand tight the fake can with a glove.

There is no problem with heat. Unless you are running full auto, or pretty close to it, and hundreds of rounds at a time.
As far as heating up faster, I doubt it. The larger surface area of the aluminum shroud will transfer heat to the atmosphere faster than the steel of the barrel.
It's all theoretical. If you want to test it, get a thermal camera and do some video.
