AFG Question
The Magpul AFG and Magpul PTS AFG look pretty basic. While I've read threads on other PTS products (folding sights) that I should stay away from, is there any reason I wouldn't pick up a Magpul PTS AFG?

PTS is just a meaning for airsoft. Stay away from anything that has a PTS in it. You could get the straight AFG if you want, just stay away from PTS. Although, PTS equipment would work on the 15-22 if you're not using it for "battle." Other than that, it'd be okay because the recoil isn't as powerful on the 15-22. Now if you want to put it on the 5.56, PTS shouldn't be an option, then definately don't use it

On a 15-22? Why not? The AFG won't have to deal with major caliber recoil.

Recoil.......what does that have to do with the durability of an AFG?
Is this PTS stuff regular plastic? If so I wouldn't put it on any of my rifles. Plastic doesn't do well with most solvents I use. I have an ACE grip adapter for my AK that is made out of regular plastic. There's a MIAD (polymer) mounted to that. The grip adapter started melting and distorting after the first cleaning when a little solvent got on it. The MIAD was fine.

I wasn't even aware that there was a PTS version of the AFG. What can you possibly manufacture different in a solid injection molded piece of plastic. It's not like it has moving parts like the MBUS.
Go for the PTS. Its attached to a pretty flimsy polymer hand guard anyway. I think the flex in the hand guard is the only short coming of the 15-22

really???? because your holding it while your rifle recoils in turn putting force on it. that being said I just googled the two of em and the pts is actually more expensive.

Actually I would compare the gen1 AFG against the gen2. The gen2 is smaller so it can let you put rail covers on, but I felt like the gen1 fit my hand better and cost less.

Must be using it wrong. The thing could be made out of glass and recoil wouldn't break it. It's just a wedge to fill the gap between your hand and the handguard.

I agree that there is about no recoil whatsoever on a .22LR especially the 15-22. And under that concept there really shouldn't be any issue with using Airsoft components on the 15-22 like Magpul PTS et al.
However, I literally had a little holosight (you know the little 4-reticle jimmyjohn you see everyone in the world having under their brand name, real small, anywhere from $40-$100 bucks with a dot, eotech reticle, crosshairs, and starburst reticles, ) ? On my 15-22 the NcStar holosight @ $65 bucks SPLIT IN HALF broke.
So I will NEVER use neither cheap optics nor airsoft components ever again, ESPECIALLY not any Magpul PTS etc. No way Jose, only the Real Deal Magpul son!
And as far as AFG's, I absolutely LOVE my 15-22 set up with Magpul XTM panel rail covers all over except for the AFG-- quite possibly the most comfortable/especially tactical and usable AR setup on this planet!

definately not just a wedge, is a regular vertical forgrip a wedge? no. while i know that this is not vertical it is also not completley horizontal. if it were complety horizontal then yes it would be just a wedge...... but its not

I would not have believed unless I saw it with my own eyes... but here's a guy who managed to find 17 minutes of stuff to talk about comparing the two AFG from Magpul and Magpul PTS. Take a sleeping pill and enjoy.

I have the magpul pts afg2 with absolutely no complaints. Piece is well made and no quality issues on the one I got. Fits perfectly in my hand and really helps stabilize the rifle.
