Post Last time beating the horse

A quote from Jeremiah Cottle....
"We only tested the right handed version, and only on a .223/556 AR. It does work on pistol calibers, but it does not work with .22LR conversions or uppers. There just isn’t enough recoil in the .22LR to make the gun work properly."

Who is Jeremiah Cottle you ask?
The inventor of the Slide Fire and a US Air Force veteran of three conflicts

I think it is important to include some facts about what the true cost of getting this product to 'work' on the MP1522. Comments such as,,, its great! Buy one if you want to have fun! This may cause some of our younger members to jump into a project that is financially over their head.
Correct me if Im wrong here.. Im thinking that for this product to 'work' correctly someone would need to spend in the neighborhood of one thousand dollars ($1000.00), including the price of the rifle.
I do NOT own SFStock, so my information is based on what little I have read here. Owner's please feel free to add any exact cost information.

This is a very good read.

Ok lets see

$450 ish for 15-22
$350 ish for Slide fire
$180 ish for Timney trigger
$25 for KNS pins (or $10 for other captured Pins)

$1005 dollars

for some of the most FUN i have had with a TOY....

Its not for everyone.... and YES all slide fire info says it dosent work... But MANY people have success with upgraded Triggers and SOME just $10 springs and Trigger modifications... so then deduct over $200 from my List

what this SLIDE FIRE did do for me............ is MADE me get a M&P Ar15 Sport.... so add another $650 to the above list

S&W M&P 15-22 with Slide Fire Stock Shooting - YouTube
Howdy
I am a Class III FFL and Slide Fire dealer . They will work on the M&P 15-22
But takes some mods and patience. once mounted on the rifle,
There is a distinct "sweet spot" at which the Slide Fire will work but firing It repetitively takes a bit of practice
The new Slide Fire SBS will fit with absolutely NO modification...the Gen
I and II will take relieving the left side of the SFS to clear the trigger guard.
Also, use a good grease on the buffer tube and inside the SFS stock.
You will also need to drill a 7/16 very small dimple on the SFS mounting block as the S&W uses 2 springs instead of one...Safety spring and rear
Takedown pin. Finally, and Most essential replace stock trigger group with a
3lb trigger...plus, it as to have a much faster trigger reset and lock time.
Best I have found is the American Trigger Co. 'Gold' 3lb trigger...truly drop in.Comes with 2 new trigger and hammer screws..drops right in
You will have to probably relieve the safety 'flat' with a file to properly
clear the lower trigger group. That's it. The trigger I get from Brownells
And other excellent triggers for this is the Timney and Jard respectively
Followed by Gesselle.Depends if you want a drop in one piece modular trigger group (Retail is about $279 ,expensive, but incredible,)
or build your own trigger using lighter springs, etc to lighten trigger to 3 lbs
I like the American Trigger Gold because it has a 70% faster reset time than
Stock and No creep or take up..trigger pull is phenomenal.Timney is closest in quality IMO, followed by the Jard.
Takes some work and it can be frustrating but it does work. After the mods are complete it's all about technique aand practice.Much cheaper alternative to .223/5.56
The Fun Factor is off the boards
By the way, You Tube. Has dozens of videos of these modifications.
I didn't invent this!
PS...Any good 2 stage 3 # trigger will work fine
And Yes, the 'conversion ' to the S&W is not cheap.
The mods will cost more than the original gun.

Any chance you would consider making another block or two for an old Tennessee boy?

I have the new version slidefire. It worked stock on 15 22 but I put yellow spings in anyway since I had them. What fun. Don't oil the tube, Just grease the hammer notches. Also did 50 cent trigger job to get rid of trigger slack. Rock and roll and no expensive trigger.

Will the new stock work with the MOE grip?
Also yes price of gun adds up with stock and trigger, but the trigger will always be sought after for resale and you may be able to sell the stock for double or triple the price in the future. Magazines are selling upwards of 100.00 a piece actullay saw one go for 162.00 on ebay.

The factory FCG is worth maybe $20, same thing for the buttstock. Neither is now, or likely ever to be, in short supply. Only a fool pays $100 for a 15-22 magazine.

Anyone know if the Hogue slip on grip will work on the slide fire stock handle? Or if anyone has found anything else do with the grip on this stock.
