Default New 15-22 and Sig522

Believe it or not my wife wanted me to buy a AR15 when she heard about all this nonsense. She's really not into guns but it ticked her off that they may be outlawed. That's all I needed to hear. So I searched and searched for an AR15. There was only 1 local, a standard Bushmaster that the gun shop wanted $1200 for. Just couldn't pull the trigger when they were going for $700 in Gander Mountain a few weeks ago. Anyway I guess I waited too long and could not find one except online for even more. So at that point I just wanted any ar style rifle. The .22's were just as hard to locate. Almost bought a Mossberg but happened to find a shop an hour from home that had 2 S&W 15-22's, he said he couldn't hold one for me though. So I drove there expecting to come up empty but he still had 1 left. I love this gun. Since then I happened to be in our local Walmart when they were putting out a Sig522. Bought that too. Sad to say that I have to send it to Sig to have them fix it. The front gas block and sight are canted to the left. Will be without it for about a month they said. Oh well I still have my S&W 15-22. Sorry for such a long first post.

I think it's the standard version 811033. 25 rd., flash hider, collapsable stock, front and rear sights. I've already ordered a front 5 position grip for it. Supposed to be delivered today. Definately got the bug, looking at all the accesories. Haven't even shot it yet

That would be the A1 Style Comp. It's one step up from standard. I can't keep things stock long either.

welcome racefan. congrats on the two rifles. i know what you mean about getting the bug. these rifles can get expensive with all the mods available. all the trial and error parts don't help. for example, i ended up buying 2 different angled fore grips and a vertical grip for my AR while trying to decide which style was more comfortable.

try learning from other's mistakes.

Thanks, I have been lurking on the forums for 2 weeks and thought I should go ahead and register. Lots of good info here. I got the front grip installed, it feels nice but I really don't need anything but vertical and folded. Don't know what the other positions are used for? These are my first experiences with the ar style guns. I really like them. Hopefully I will add an actual AR15 at some point.

it seems the position angled towards you would maybe simulate a kind of angled fore grip? and if you flip the grip with the button on the other side, you could still have it angle towards you? idk.

Welcome aboard. I'm new here too but I fortunately timed things pretty well: I bought my first AR-15 (a M&P15) in October and ordered the 15-22 in early December before all heck broke loose. I also ordered a couple of cases of .223 in November.

Timing is everything. I'm even finding it tough to find .22 ammo. Good thing I bought a few boxes when I purchased the 15-22.
