50 Shots from Eley 10x at 25yards, shot fast off a bipod in the front, no additional support in the rear. Give me sandbags f/r and I could cut that in half.

50 yards, CCI SV.....Everything was from my bipod except for the bottom right which I was at a rest, but no bipod or bags or anything

The targets are 3" circles

In any rifle shooters book, from a rest and or bench, Accurcy is best stated as MOA/distance....MOA (minute of angle) would be for instance 1" @100yds, 1/2" @ 50 yds, and 1/4" at 25yds......MOA is 2" @ 200yds......I did'nt say it is easy, but an accurate rifle, ammo, and shooter combo should strive for MOA.......other factors, the main being wind, or being able to read the wind correctly, play a huge part in shooting MOA......the M&P 15-22, is just not a MOA gun, especially with the bulk ammo, and standard sight systems......It's fine for a fast firing fun .22blasting away in a "combat" style. In fact many of the targets posted above are not too shaby, just not MOA accurate. If you can hold 2" at 100yds with whatever ammo you choose, off a bench, You have an exceptional 15-22...and you could consider yourself a fine marksman..................best regards Plum

OK, finnally got the time to do a accuracy test on my M&P 15/22. Set up at 50 yards, standing free hand, using CCI Tactical Ammo, M&P 15/22, Vortex SureFire 1X. The M&P is a very accurate rifle in 22LR, as far as a combat weapon, I am very pleased with the results..I think I can spell my name on the forehead of the Zombie that makes any attempt at trying to eat me... Note: Thank God my name isn't "Englebert Humperdink"

Pghrich, I guess I have to say, mostly free hand.. I was standing and my waist was resting on the bench, slightly leaning into the bench, but the rifle was held by my hands not resting on anything..

Now I've done a bench rest with sand bags and with my NcStar 4X scope I get 1.5" to 2.5" spreads, so I know this rifle is even more accurate than I'm capable of shooting without a bipod or solid stand...

25 rounds at 25 yards, open sight, rapid fire. Almost as fast as I could pull the trigger. Accurate enough for me. [IMG][/IMG]

Accuracy?

I see a bunch of silver coins in this thread. I like to shoot a different way; here is 525 rounds of Federal Bulk (3 FTF's not included) at 15 yards with the SSAR-15 bumpfire (~750 rounds per minute):

For those accuracy guys that are counting:

- 13 missed the target
- 3 failed to feed
- 509 hit the target
- all shots fired in the simulated full-auto with SSAR15 stock
- Gallon of paint for you penny/quarter size guys

Sorry - just being facetious.

Mounted a scope on the 15-22 and tied it out at the range. This is 50 yds with Fed Lightings, $1.47 a box at Wal Mart. The wind was blowing hard today. Was aiming at the line intersection left of center.

Same ammo from a Remington 541 T bolt gun at 50 yds; shot a few months ago; way to windy today to bring the bolt gun to the range Sunday.

Those are some nice targets, really. The MP 15/22 is not designed to be a Target rifle, so you can't expect target groups out of it. Good optics on the gun makes all the difference, especially if you are going for 100 yards or more.
Anyone who has spent time with 22 Target rifles knows that they can be very ammo particular. And often the bulk ammo will perform just as well as the more expensive target stuff.
When ever I get a new 22 rifle I run numerous different brands of ammo thru it to see what it likes. One can be very suprised as to the results.
With my MP 15/22 I can get 3 to 3 1/2 inch groups out to 100 yards with iron sights in good day light and that's about it. It's just not going to do any better than that, but thats good hunting / varmit accuracy for me. With some good glass on it, I could tighten that up a bit but I wouldn't expect miracles out of it. That's using the Remington bulk Golden Bullet.
I am lucky to have a range out back where I shoot 100 yards or more on a regular basis so that helps.
You have to compare apples to apples.

Those are about the results that I get with my Remington 541S and my 15-22 also. The 541S has spoiled me on shooting gophers with a .22 rimfire rifle. BUT the 15-22 is a fun, cool looking gun and gives gophers at least a chance of getting away.

Using a Lyman digital gauge, average of 10 pulls:

Factory trigger, 6 lb. 1oz

Break= 3 lb. 1 oz.

Love that clean 2nd stage break with no perceptible creep. Words like "glass-like" and "candy cane-like" are not exaggerations!

I probably should have replaced the JP reduced power hammer spring with the full-power Geissele spring for faster lock time. How can you measure lock time? Is there a gauge?

This is my best 5-shot group so far. Outdoors at 25 yards with some front/rear "sandbags" (bags filled with wood pellets) and my Nikon P-22 scope.

That's pretty much the standard accuracy from a bench and with match ammo. Nice to see that's what you are achieving.
