Default Left Hand OOB

Got a new mp15-22 with blue springs. Shot about 350 through it with 1 failure. I have noticed the YouTube videos and threads about OOBs happening with some people. My girlfriend shoots left handed. Is there anyone that shoots left handed and has had a OOB happen? Do you think it would be safe for a left handed shooter? Opinions, thoughts?

I'm sticking to Fed Ae22 and CCI Mini Mag ammo, seems to be the best from what I have read.

Last month I had an OOB with mine, after only 300 rounds, (and 6 or 7 FTE and FTF, I was using Winchester 555 hollow point)
I shoot left handed. After I posted this, someone said I was lucky the ejector didn't get thrown into the next bay. I heard a louder than normal firing, and smoke came out where there usually isn't any.
Monday FedEx picked it up. I hope to have it back in 2 or 3 weeks.
I'm using Federal ammo from now on.

i shoot lefty and so does my father, we've probably put 10,000-12,000 rounds each through the rifle with no OOB's and it is an earlier model

Wear a good fitting pair of shooting / safety glasses that are rated ANSI Z87.1-2003. ANSI Z87.1-2003

I wear a good pair of Ztek Arcs that I use from work.

Another lefty shooter here. I shoot Blazer only. I've had three FTF out of 3,150 rounds, and they have all been out of the same mag that doesn't like to be loaded to 25.

I was born almost blind in my right eye, so I'm a big fan of safety glasses. When I was a little kid my grandfather told me if I could hit an aluminum can at 50 yards he would give me the Winchester model 62a we were gopher slaying with. On the third shot I must not have got the pump all the way closed. KABOOM.....rriinngg.... The rifle was gone, and my only working eye was blasted with powder. Thank god my vision cleared eventually or I wouldn't be shooting today. Guess what though, Grandpa had two model 62a's.

Another lefty here. Not too concerned, but take precautions. For example, I don’t let my kids stand on the right side of anyone shooting the rifle. We all know there is hot brass but I’m talking about something serious like flying pieces of brass casings or an extractor flying out. Probably paranoia but it’s my boys I am talking about. Do the searches and you will see the pictures and read the stories from when it was much more common. I look at it this way, the only reason S&W is getting away with so many OOB’s in a rifle in full production, and so many documented cases of this problem is because it is .22 caliber. If this was happening with M&P large caliber rifles or hand guns they would all be recalled and off the market. Large caliber OOB’s literally blow up the gun and cause severe injuries. If my 45 semi-auto side arm had a history similar to the 15-22 only an idiot would dare shoot it.

Now, with all that said, I am shooting my 15-22 and loving it……it is .22 caliber. If one of my boys ever gets hurt I will never forgive myself….Just food for thought.
