I got the lucid hd-7, it was about $150 IIRC.
Military arms channel on youtube tested it by throwing it on the ground etc and it held zero.

The one I said has worked very well for me accuracy wise. However it weighs maybe a couple of pounds.

You're looking for a less than expensive red dot sight that can survive being tossed around a little? I've been using Primary Arms MicroDot for a couple years and have been very pleased.

If you want an affordable optic that can take a beating and still work like it's suppose to, go with a PA micro. They hold zero on my shotgun, AK47, and my buddies Ruger GSR just fine.
I'll warn you about the push button rubber-coated controls on the Vortex products. It's a flat out poor design. My friend got a Sparc for his brand new M&P 15-22. After I got done putting all his new goodies on I took a pic of it resting against the kitchen counter. It tipped over and took out the controls. That optic lasted a couple hours and hadn't even been used yet.

I like my Bushnell TRS-25. Its small and really light. I got it from primary arms for $90. I think you might be able to find it for a little less if you look around, but I like primary arms. Also I use a .83" riser mount for absolute co-witnessing through MBUS sights. Use a 1" riser if you want a lower 1/3 co-witness.

Will the pa micro hold zero if I take it off and put my hunting scope back on? Does pa sell risers and what does co witnessing do?

The PA micro with the PA QD mount will hold a pretty close zero if removed and reattached, the ADM QD mount option which they offer is better. Regardless of which you choose, you of course will have to reconfirm.
Co-Witness is -
A - Having the ability to be able to align your Iron Sights or BUIS through your Optics / Red dots (where it locates in the glass it does not matter {middle / bottom 1/3}), leaving your red dot Zeroed.
B - Sighting in your Optics / Red Dots and then bringing your Iron Sights or BUIS to align with the Red Dots.

Primary Arms sells the MicroDot in many configurations. Fixed base, removable base, no riser, choice of different risers, kill flash... you name it, they got it.

Yup, it comes down to personal preference. I personally like to have my red dot and magpul back up sights (MBUS) to have the same point of aim (POA), and through the center of the glass which is absolute co-witnessed. With this setup I use my red dot unless something happens (like the battery dies) then I can use the backup sights and use the same POA. Some guys prefer to have the backup/fixed sights in the bottom 1/3 of the glass. And with larger glass they can use both at the same time. This can be useful for a combat situation. So say if you red dot dies you don't have to flip up the backup sights while your getting shot at. Or some have different POA for the red dot and sights. So for example the red dot can be sighted in for 20 yards and the iron or backup sights can be set at 100yards and its easy to instantly switch between two different POA.
Hope that helps.

I suggest the ADM upgraded mount. It is rock solid. Mine comes off frequently and holds a perfect zero. I just make sure to slide it forward in the rail slot so it's always in the exact same spot. I was pretty good at making my oldschool setup on my hunting rifle go back to zero too though.

In all fairness all companies have issues with Quality Control at one point or another. Marshal at PA routinely discount RDS units with known QC issues.
One thing a lot of people do not taken into consideration is Vortex has a no BS lifetime warranty that is fully transferable. No receipt, no question fixed or replaced. PA on the other hand though they have a great product has only a limited warranty.
That being said both companies have excellent customer service and this individual has experienced it first hand.

I use the PA riser with MBUS. It's lower (real low) 1/3 co-witness. If you want to use the QD much, I'd probably go with whatever upgraded riser they have as Gopher suggested. The QD on the PA riser isn't very good.

There CS handled it well.
I'm saying it's a design flaw IMO. One of those throws from the PA drop test video would destroy the Vortex products with the side mounted controls. It doesn't matter how good their CS is if the product is vulnerable IMO. Any issues I've had with my PA dots, like loosing the caps and the bikini cover (not once with the dot itself), Marshall has taken care of. I pay full price for mine knowing that the cheaper ones are blems. They're already priced well for how long mine have lasted issue free.

RED DOT SIGHT
I have an Ultra Dot red dot scope. Several models in the $150 to $200 range. Comes with rings and a lifetime warrenty! Bought mine from Gil Hebard in Knoxville, Il. Size of the dot is adjustable to about 9 different sizes. I can hold all shots in a large jagged hole at 50 yards if I don't start shooting fast! Hebard pays shipping.

I second ChattanoogaPhil's recommendation -- I've shot a 15-22 (not mine) w/PA Micro and loved it. I woulda' bought one if I didn't already have an older EOTech Holosight (w/N batteries, OK?) on my Colt AR15 9mm Carbine that I switched over. The 30mm UltraDot that is on the SIG P220 Sport will be going on the S&W Mod. 41.
Gee, I need to win a lottery or two! I'm CHEAP!

Man I wish I could have gotten it for that price! I paid a little bit more, but the Lucid so far is a fantastic scope and worth every penny. Taken everything I can throw at and held zero and shows a perfect reticle. The 2x magnifier if you opt for it is also a great addition.
