Default Modifying long 10-round mags into 25?

Hi all,

I'm fairly new the sport (and very new to the forum, if this topic has already been addressed I apologize for overlap) and there is quite a bit I don't know about it. I recently purchased my 15-22 and it came with the long 10 round mag. I have two questions.

First, is it even legal (I live in Colorado) to try to adapt the mag by taking out the block the factory installed to limit the magazine?

Second, if so, is it possible to take out block? And how would I do it?

I just found some of the factory 25s on sale through Midway so I have a couple of them on the way but I'd love to have 3 if possible. Any advice would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

I can't answer your question, but the best place for magazines, on a regular basis, is 44mag.com. Price is $16 for either size and $5 shipping per order. Delivery is 2-3 days.

I believe that Colorado in general has no statewide restrictions on high-capacity magazines, and is a pretty 2A friendly state...with the exception of Denver. I read that Denver has magazine cap restrictions (20 rounds?), so do yourself a favor and carefully research the local firearms laws that apply to you and your weapon.

I live in CO as well (Aurora). The mag restrictions do not apply to rimfire weapons, only center fire.
I got mine with the 10 round mag as well and considered what you are, but decided to leave it alone and went to Gander mountain and .44mag.com and picked up a few extra 25 rounders. ENJOY!!

Thanks very much to everyone for the advice. I think I'll do just as Qualcity did. I've got two on the way. Better to have three working mags instead of two and one broken hahaha. Thanks again.
