Upper receiver and barrells
I got the idea of a dedicated upper for plinking and competition and a second upper for scoped applications. I want to keep my upper I have now for competition use, but I want a Pc barrel/upper so I can have it for squirrel/pest. Does s&w sell barrels and receivers? Will I have to buy another bolt group? To many questions so little time

They absolutely DO sell replacement uppers and they cost less than $25.00 delivered. They will sell you a barrel too, but the barrel's are not cheap and I've not seen anyone say the PC model was more accurate.

No the upper does not come with the hand guard, you just get the bare upper receiver. Unfortunately I don't have the part number handy, but there is a part number thread here you can look up.
I am not 100% sure on the price of the barrels, I want to say they are like $150 + pretty expensive.

I'd say $150 is a great price! Thompson center makes these barrels and charges 2x that for their contender and encore barrels

If these were true competition barrels then I guess everything is relative. I know they claim these are "match grade" but really?

yep. they spend money on thier jeeps and trucks, i spend mine on guns and ammo.
as far as handguards go, i was thinking of a magpul moe, and a true shot tech front for the compition rig and scope on the quad rail. OR should i got with a free float handguad with the scope and leave the original quad rail for the compettion rig.
my mind is going 1000 mph right now at all the posibilities!!!

Say if I were to go through the process and buy one, who will I request to speak to when I call S&W? With the popularity of the 15-22, I'm suprised they dont sell complete uppers, barrels, etc.

Shoot yeah they are match grade, but are you shooting match grade ammo with other match grade items? Nope. Also, are you shooting from a bench rest, or are you assuming your shoulder and support arm are "match grade steady?"
Just playing devils advocate...
For the record, my 15-22 is as accurate as I am, and I am 100% satisfied with it as a plinker, nothing more.

I don't shoot match grade ammo, I do fire off a bipod all the time. I rarely stand and shoot unless I take all the weight off the rifle
I know it's a Thompson Center barrel and it's supposed to be match grade. I'm just saying, is it "as good" as a big dollar aftermarket barrel for say a 10/22 (there are plenty). I think my 15-22 is accurate enough, but if I was chasing holes in one, I probably would be looking at a full match grade rifle, not an AR platform
Jsha,
I just called my order in through S&W's customer service number. You will need part numbers, I suggest just calling and talking to one of the Customer Service Rep's I am sure they can get you squared away.

I spun my barrel removing a "stuck" hider and am in need of an upper but Smith told me they don't have them?

What you quoted was 5 years old now, and it's possible that S&W changed their policy about selling them. May have to just send the whole thing in for repair.
You could also check out this thread: 15-22 Parts list with part numbers that has a part number listed for the upper. When you call, just tell them you want to order part number 404510000 (possibly also referred to as s&w404510000).
