Default Eotech 512 and .22LR

Any one know what distance I should zero an Eotech 512 at for use with a .22LR?

I don't know the terminology but on my .223 AR with Eotech 512, I zero'd it closer in and supposedly the dot then coincides with the point of impact farther out.

Looking for similar balistic info to dial in my 15-22 also.

Thanks!

Morning next mayor

Only you can make the determination on what yardage to sight your 22 at.

What yardage are you going to shoot at? No sense in sighting it in at 100 yards when you can't see the target clearly with a no/low power optic, or you never shoot at things that far.

With young strong eyes you can probably sight in a no-power optic at much farther ranges than an old fart like me can.

Personally at my age with my old eyes I am at about my limit with a no or low power optic at 50 yards so I sight my reflex dots in at 25 yards then adjusts the hold if I for some reason need to shoot longer distances. I have a scope for longer ranges.

What are you going to practice at? If close silhouettes then sight in close (like 25 yards). If you are going to shoot steel at 0-100 yards then pick a mid range (like 50 yards) for your base sight in.

Unlike your .223 that 22 isn't a long range flat shooter so when you get out over 100 yards it gets complicated (especially with a low powered optic)

I zero all of my red dots for 50 yards. Red dots are for quick target acquisition at 50 yards or less.

I hear you about zero'ing the sight for the range you shoot, but due to the parabolic (sp?) ballistics of the .223, I was under the impression that L3 / Eotech recommend zero'ing at 25 yards, then due to the curving flight path of the .223, the point of impact would be "on" at 25 yards (obviously) and then again at 100 - 300 yards ( I don't remember exactly) due to the round having reached its apogee (highest point of its flight path) and then dropping again. I didn't know if there was a similar set up for the .22lr.

Check here http://ballisticscalculator.winchester.com/
It's a useful tool. There are other out there, but this is one of the simplest to use.
