Default 15 22 jamming

My son and I were shooting his rifle this morning and could not get more than two shells to fire at a time. The spent cartrige is getting caught between the barrel and the bolt, trapping the shell sideways. anyone got any input on this.

We cleaned the gun very good then tried again with the same results..

Help!!!

Bent ejector? Check some of the post about that as it seems there is a video about how to fix this. With cleaning it can be bent so it don't match the bolt right.

Could be ammo, bent ejector, or bad magazine. I had the same problem and it turned out to be a bad magazine. If you only have one magazine it might be difficult to track down. The last thing I would do is mess with the ejector. Try some different ammo first. My gun loves the Federal Bulk ammo from Wally World. If you only have one mag, it's time to buy a couple more. Be careful when removing any jams especially if the case is jammed behind the ejector. That is probably the weakest component in the rifle.

First of all, did this just start or is it a new gun? If you don't make sure that the rounds are inserted into the mag. correctly, that can cause this problem. Not only do they need to be staggered, but care needs to be taken to make sure the cartridge rim is fully against the back of the magazine.

Good luck to you and a speedy fix.

Search for ejector issues. These were common with the earlier production rifles. The ejector needs to be reformed (never bent!) into the right position. Easy to snag the ejector with a Boresnake and force it out of position.

These are blow back and the cases (shotguns have shells) always extract. But check the extractor as well. It has to hold onto the case until the case strikes the ejector. Is it there? An out of battery discharge is known to blow the extractor out of the bolt too. This usually results in failures to feed.

Default I really need to pay closer attention

Now I see that this is happening on the after rather than the prior side of the cycle.
Sorry for muddying the waters.
