Looking for an MOE in Cali...
I'm looking to purchase an MOE in Cali. I'm running into some difficulty as the MOE comes with the 25 rd. mag, and Cali restricts to a 10 rd. capacity. I don't want to buy the Ca compliant model and then have to put in another $200+ for Magpul furniture, barrel threading, etc., when it's more economical to spring for the MOE out of the gate.
Advice?

I would try and find a retailer that would be willing to ship you a MOE with a 10rd magazine. Maybe email Bud's Gun Shop or another online retailer and ask at the very least.

I shot them an email on Monday... Haven't heard back yet. Going to ask around some local shops as well. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I got my A1 from DeChiel Firearms in San Diego. It comes with a 25 round magazine, so I had to buy a 10 round magazine which was placed in the rifle at delivery. Even with having to buy the magazine, the price was cheaper than the cost of the Standard model from Big 5.
Since the 25 round magazine is the only thing that makes the A1 & MOE California non-compliant, the owner Mitch can get you any version of the M&P 15-22 you want.

I bought mine from Turner's a year ago. 10/25 round magazine included. They're kind of tough to find because the MOE's are really popular. Maybe your shop can order you one.

I got mine from Turner's too! I had to buy the floor model. It came w/the long magazine - reduced to 10Rd capacity (10/25?). I picked mine up last month!

Got my reply back from Bud's Gun shop...
"No, that isnt an option as we ship to you just like we receive the items from
the manufacture. We cant alter, or change the items in anyway. Therefore you
would need to choose a state compliant firearm."
The search continues.

Yeah, I remember hearing that they won't do that. Great place to deal with when I bought my handgun from them, though. Where are you from? Ask the shop that has the standard to order you an MOE. I'd expect quite a wait. Find another out of state shop, if you must, and ask them if they can take the magazine apart(magazine parts kit), replace it with the 10/25 or perhaps ship with no magazine.

I'm in the Antelope Valley... about 70 miles north of LA. There's a Turner's Outdoorsman in Pasadena, maybe an hour or so away. I think I'll check them out next...

You mean the bullet button? Only on centerfire rifles... rimfire is good to go.

Yeah, but I don't have the MOE version, just the standard model that I got when I was still living in Louisiana. Hopefully you can find an MOE version somewhere here in Cali. It is definitely a fun little rifle. I own several larger caliber guns and I love the 15-22 just as much as the rest of 'em. Its a great gun to bring along when shooting with new shooters too...everyone loves to shoot it. Have to say it was more fun when I could shoot 25rds though.
