Looking to buy an M and P soon for my son and I to play around with.Is the magpul edition worth the extra bucks.We're new to the AR style guns and not sure the direction we'll be heading with it.Does anyone have any recomendations for good deals on line right now.Hoping to have alot of fun shooting and modifing this gun with him.Thanks

Best way to figure it is to price the pieces out seperately. For example on my MP15 I got a brand new Magpul MOE handguard on Ebay for $22 shipped. That is more than $10 less than Magpul's site price. Also not sure all the pieces the 15-22 comes with in the package over stock one.

Thats $360.00 more for add ons but realy I'm done adding items to it.....except the sling system....

So did I save money?
Maybe not but I have had alot of fun doing it!! and so will you!!

M&P15-22’s Tupperware for Guys

I've posted this recently, but I'll post again.

Bud's has the FDE Moe for 507.00 shipped. The FDE Moe come with the Moe butt stock, and grip, 3 rails covers and MBUS front and rear sights. All those parts bought online from 44mag.com cost over 200 bucks, free shipping. The basic A1 model is usually 405 and up, when found in the better price range (many report higher prices, depends on your local).

The MOE is the only one to come with a sling swivel mount on the lower receiver. It's by far the better deal, but only if you like the MOE furniture.

BTW, I went the route of Grg3d with model 811033, and probably spent about the same or more in addons for it. Then I bought the MOE FDE.

Having two isn't really a bad thing... I love shooting with my boys.

I have the MOE, I really don't believe it to be worth the extra money, unless you really like the looks, or have some sort of need for the folding sights. I moved the MOE stock to my 'real' AR. I think the sights on the standard 15-22 are better if you use irons. The pistol grip is a wash, I don't have a preference for the pistol grip. Other people's opinions may vary, for the value, but if you like the look and ergonomics, go for it. By the way, I paid $489 + tax at Independence Firearms in Independence TX.

I bought the MOE in FDE because they are hard to find and get. I was going to put the folding sights on it anyways. Right there I "saved" $100. The grips are a little different textured. In my opinion it looks nicer and is kind of a tribute gun if you will to the Operation Desert Storm. If you can find one, I'd definitely get it.

If you really like the look and are never going to change it (yeah right) then go with the MOE. If it's almost how you want it, buy the standard rifle and change it how you want.

I believe that it would have been better for me to have bought a MOE model but when I had the money and was ready to buy no one had a MOE in stock.
I saw a MOE version at a funshow today that was only $60 more than what I paid for my A1 version. Really though, it's a personal thing. Decide which model is closer to what you want to have as an end (hehe) product. Good luck and have fun!

I bought the A1 with the treaded barrel. I was going to take the iron sights off anyways and install a red dot scope so it wasn't worth it to me to buy the MOE model.
I think the sights are the most expensive add on for the MOE model.
