Default Scope with Illuminated Reticle?

Hey guys,
I'm fixing to order a Burris 1.5-6x Mtac for the m&p 15OR model and decided I'm going to run a illuminated reticle scope on the 15-22.

Does anyone know of any that are daytime visible like the Burris, but for a .22? I'm not going to drop another $400-450 on a Burris when the reticle is designed for a .223/5.56nato / 7.62 nato round.

Any help in my search is greatly appreciated.

P.S. The reticle MUST be daytime visible, as bright as a red dot. The Burris' reticle, in another posters words, is 'nuclear' during the day

P.S.S. Looking at variable up to at least 6x, hopefully find one at the 9x range for a decent price.

NcStar makes a couple nice scopes. They're 3-9X40. They have the regular black daytime reticle, then if you get the compact version, you can get red or green illumination, or if you stay with a standard size one, it comes in just green illumination. The brightness varies from power 1-11. Seems sweet to me. I got the standard one from OpticsPlanet and it cost me like $80

Primary Arms sells a compact 3x designed for an AR platform with the same illuminated reticle as the Burris you are planning to buy. They also make several other scopes with different illuminated reticles. 1-4x, 3-9x and 4-12x.

Generally, I don't think much of dime store magnified optics with illuminated reticles (though I have a Primary Arms compact 4x with it). The cheap lens coatings makes the glass significantly darker than it would otherwise be, so it kinda works against the purpose of use in low light conditions.

Thanks for the reply. The way the ol' eye sight is, I've got to have some magnification, plus the red dot.

I just read a post somewhere that said the Mueller Speed Shot is fairly decent.

I don't mind going to the $400-450 range w/ the .223 optic.. but I'm not dropping that much on a .22 plinker rifle.

I'd be willing to go to the $200-250 range w/ the .22 if I find something that is red dot daytime bright.

I have the UTG SWAT compact 3-12x44, it has 32 or 36 colors for the reticle(actually looks more like 8 or so colors with some sort of shade variation of the rest). It's super bright. I just never use it, the lighted reticle that is. But it's there if I want it. less than a 100 bucks shipped from amazon. Adjustable AO as well.

Another scope that would be similar to the Mueller and in the price range is the Millet DMS.

Actually the cheap CenterPoint 3-9x32 illuminated scope from Walmart for $50 is pretty bright in daylight, especially green. Has a Mil-Dot type reticle. I have one in my collection and I am always suprised that the reticle is brighter than some more expensive scopes.

Take a look at the REX7301 scope, they have them at dunhams, i have one and could'nt be happier with it, they are not cheap [$220.00+tax] solid 2moa black dot with crosshairs and it lights up if you want it to, i just use the black dot, pghrich

I just bought the NcStar 3-9x42mm rubberized scope w/laser from Amazon - I wanted 1.magnification 2. illum. ret. 3. compact/tactical look - the ncstar fit the bill, was cheap enough to at least try, and the laser was an added bonus and should come in handy for use w/the slide-fire stock.

The center point I had, did have a nice bright reticle. Only problem I had with mine was the reticle would jump around severely. I just got a bad one. I know a few people that have the center point and they have held zero well.

im a big fan of Osprey scopes (can be found for around $150)

i now have had two 10-40X50 30mm tube, and one 6-24X50 30mm tube.

400 rounds and counting on the 30.06 and no loss of zero

and remember all these pix were taken with a 3 year old Samsung vibrant cell phone that does not have a flash

day time target is 300 yards off this is the 10-40X50

as for your illuminated reticle this is midnight at 88 yards

here is in idea of how big this scope is,,, i have yet to get one to replace the Tasco that's currently on my Performance Center 15-22, it will soon have the 6-24X50

yes these were my rifles but are sadly sold,,, im not selling any rifles ever again (lesson learned)

i still have the 30.06

Mossburg 4X4 30.06

Savage .17hmr

one sweet AR-15 i built for long range

Thumbs down

I spoke too soon about the NcStar...

I got the scope last night, took it out of the box, flipped up the covers, turned it on, an noticed the upper right side of the reticle was much brighter than the lower left. The reticle is also pretty thick - was hoping for a little finer reticle like my leupold. I was dissapointed but knew I'd be getting what I paid for, so didn't get too discouraged. I zeroed in on a stop sign out the window about 150 yard away and tested the 3-9x magnification. At 3x I expected a bigger sight picture (seeing as how its a 42mm) but was a little dissapointed...and at 9x everything in the 'outer half' of the sp was blurry and distorted. Next, after adjusting the focus on the rear eyepiece, the lens cover flew off - the pin came loose and dissapeared somewhere in my living room. I happened to have a pin in my tool box that fit perfectly, so I put it back together. Then I went to mount it to the gun. The mount is usable but made out of the cheapest steel stock China has to offer, with matching half-worn-off matt finish. The scope had only about 2" eye relief. This put the mount as far back on the rail as possible, which in turn put the mount handle right up against the charge handle. The rear of the scope was hanging off about 2.5 inches which made the charge handle difficult to get to. I tried messing around with the mount - flipped it around and flipped the locking lever upside down to try and make it work, but in the end it wasn't worth it. I'm going to return it and go another route.

I think I'm going to just get a reflex or red dot for now, put a laser on the handguard, and maybe get a scope later w/quality quick release mount for when I want to shoot long range.

I'm pretty sure you got a defective scope. Mine is perfect. Better than what I expected.
