Default 15-22 pistol and rifle bolt difference
Just got a pistol to go along with my rifle. Took it apart to clean and properly lube it before shooting it. Notice a big difference in the bolt compared to the Rifle. Has this been posted before; I did not do search for it. What do you guys think?

Yep. Because the pistol's barrel length is quite a bit shorter, the bolt needs to have less mass to cycle correctly since the blow-back gas pressure is less than the rifle.

Thanks for posting the pics. I have noticed this myself, and surmised the reasoning as Hobie1 said, but haven't seen any pics posted.

My rifle runs about everything I have fed it reliably, but has anybody ever tried swapping bolts and running the sub-sonic or possibly primer only rounds? (not even sure if this would be safe)

My son in law has the slide fire stock on his 15-22; we have already talked about swapping the bolt out to see what it does.

Just got lucky by calling all of the gun shops in the area; I suggest you do the same; just keep expanding your search area

The weather has been nice here since the last post; may get rough Sunday afternoon though.

Been working everyday including this weekend; will post as soon as we give it a try.

P.S. Got a 50 round Black Dog drum to try out; don't know if it will work with the slide fire but we are going to find out.

It works but not as good as the standard bolt; not enough mass to cycle fast.
