Hi all,
I just joined this forum today after buying my first AR. Orginally I bought a Colt M4OPS but before it was ever fired I lost faith in it when a pin popped out and neither I nor the LGS could get it back in, so they allowed me to exchange it, which I opted for the M&P15, hence why I am here. I plan on shooting it tomorrow, not sure of any mods I will do but I did put a Red-Dot on it, not sure I will like it but it was cheap so I will give it a try.

Not sure how to get images here so no pics posted.

I have 950 rounds to take with me to the range plus taking some of my carry ammo and my carry weapon to run it as well. Not sure how much I will run through it, gotta sight in my Red-Dot and just have fun. Its relaxation for me. I work right down the road from the range but not sure how well the ammo will keep in the trunk of my car in the warm summer months, would be nice to stop in after work on some days.

Figured out how to do images on this board. Its nothing you all have not seen before, I almost got the mossy oak cammo but the cost difference did not justify it.

My wife shot better than I did today before showers chased us inside.
Welcome, justherenow! Posting pictures is easy. Just click the Go Advanced button; then when you get to the advanced editor, click Manage Attachments. I'm sure you can take it from there, but holler if you need a hand; there are always willing helpers here. Looking forward to your updates.
Ah, I see you've got the picture thing already. Nice gun - enjoy! Ours seems to run better the less I clean it.

I am going to an indoor range, so lucky me. Only issue is it is only a 25 yard range. I am in Ohio, not many outdoor ranges and I am on a limited income. I actually sold my 9mm to cover some of what I paid for this. I wish there were some public lands one could just go and shoot but I do not know of any.

Hey justherenow, my eagle eye has detected a problem with your weapon. In your second and third pictures it appears that your magazine has sprung a leak. Go shoot that thing before any more fall out.

The interior of your trunk would have to get well over 200 degrees for an extended amount of time to begin to have any appreciable effect upon ammo. Even in Texas summers with a vehicle in direct sunlight all day, a trunk will not get much over 150 degrees. At most there will be a slight increase in chamber pressure with an accompanying increase in velocity.

Consider that military ammo in Afghanistan and Iraq is not stored under any special conditions. Summer temps in Iraq exceeds 120 degrees on a daily basis.

Ahhhh the Umarex Colt M4 Ops. I know it well...

You have one heck of a good LGS for letting you exchange it out. You're much better off with the 15-22, trust me. I learned the hard way.

You'll have a bunch of fun with the 15-22. Nothing beats 3₵ per round & AR-Platform fun.

Thanks for the feedback. Yep, my magazine leaks. Since I will be transporting it in the car tomorrow it is unloaded. Ohio law says that a magazine loaded for any weapon is a loaded weapon and we cannot have loaded rifles in our cars, even with a CCW permit.

Good to know I can store it for a bit in my car. There are days we leave work at noon and I would like to hit the range when I can, especaily with the range 5 minutes from work, but shhhhh dont tell anyone cause we are not aloud to have weapons on the property.

I liked the looks of the Colt but the more I read about it the more I wish I had known what I was getting into. The LGS has a 24 hour return policy on unfired weapons and I was at 26 hours only because they did not open until noon today and I explained that i found out that I could not do some of the stuff I am thinking about like custom grip and such with the Colt and I let him know as he was processing the return that the pin came out and he looked at it and said he had no clue and would have his gunsmith repair it, so good to go. I was shocked at how friendly the guy was, yesterday he was less than friendly and today he was as friendly as can be, it was my first firearms buy from them.

I looked at a sig sauer 22LR and when I broke it down at the store to see how good of quality it was I asked how to get the charging lever out and the man said it just pulls out, doesnt lock or anything so thats why I stuck with S & W better design and quality. lol

I hope I like this as much as everyone boast about it. I know I liked the feel of the Colt I had and today I seen some cheaper versions of this gun like a Mossburg I think it was at Dicks, $300 bucks. This is my first and I just want it for fun, I dont see using it for home defense and I do not hunt or anything, but then we never know what will happen if O is re-elected, may have to hunt for food or have long guns to keep the bad guys out when the $ becomes worth less than it is now.

Buy an Aimpoint Red Dot and good white light and plenty of P-Mags.

I'd say ammo too but the panick buying has already begun and all the good cheap stuff (IMI 193) is already gone.

He was talking about an AR15-22 even though he said M&P AR15.

Thank you all for the words. Im trying to get everything done, running on less than two hours sleep. Iv managed to set the funeral arrainged and the estate process started. Its a lot of weight to bare but I am managing. We saw my mom die of cancer in 1988 and she suffered 4 or 5 years before dying and it was rough. What I have gathered is that he slept nearly the whole day, about 4pm he woke up on the couch and told his girlfriend that it was time to go to bed, she told him it was 4 and he went back to sleep. Around 7 he told her he was ready to go up to bed, he was unsteady and lithargic and he layed down to bed. She said he was snoring and moving around as he always did all night and then eventually stopped, she poked him a few times and yell for him and no response and when she touched him he was cold, they called me and 911 and thats where we are at.

Its killing me. Just Saturday he was fine, he cooked a good meal, invited us over and he ate more than he had in quite some time. When we left nothing seemed amiss, told each other we would talk to each other tomorrow (yesterday) but he slept and I just blew it off as him catching up on sleep since he lost sleep, I never thought anything bad would happen that quick. The doctor gave him a 99% prognosis that treatments would work but he only made it to one. He has had quite a bit of medical issues, diabetic and had a quad bypass in 1994 but he was on the up and up. He was active for the most part until his last day, reired and worked still. Funny, he sold school bus parts, they were his life and the funeral director got the local school district to donate a school bus to have at the Funeral home for a rememberence. Again Thanks for the words all.

What really hurt was at the funeral home they told us we had to come up with what I thought was $800 so things could get started and then when the court approves the probate we could use his savings to pay the balance, When I got there they said that I needed another 650 on top of that for the grave yard, I nearly lost it, I only had 1400 and it was every bit of moeny I had. They ended up letting me pay 1000 to instead. I pisses me off they tell you they are there for you in a time of need, but only when they know there is money coming in.
