Default Flash hider color doesn't match

I've got the True Shot Technologies flash hider for non threaded barrels and its great! But it doesn't match the gun, its more grey than black. My question is how can i make it match the gun? is there a certain kind of paint i should use?

I am in the same boat with my flash hider. Bought it from some website and it honestly looks used. Gonna hit it with some left over black duracoat to make it look new. Should match up close. I did rattle can a cheap weapon light with some flat black and it looked great. Give that a shot.

None of my ar flash hiders match the factory finish. Im sure the factory buys them by the truck load from a supplier. I guess its never been an issue for me.

Some folks recommend high temp BBQ paint. Once dry to the touch, bake at 300deg for 15-30 min

Dura Paint or go to an auto store and get Engine block paint (hight temp). Spray the outer skin don't worry about the inner, the blast will blow the paint away. If you look at a full size AR15, it is also a gray black, same as your flash hider... If anyone makes fun of your color variation, just tell them to look into the hole, and wait for the flash..
Just joking now...

Sand blast it then re blue it. or use a cold blackeing liquid.
Some companies work hard to make certain finishes are exact.

Default color mismatch

I'm very sorry to hear about this color mismatch.
If you knew what it took to make these muzzle brakes look good, and what little profit is made, I am sure you would understand my frustration hearing this.
However, I am open to your ideas on this.
I order them roughed out from MI., then I do a lot of work to them including bead blast and Superblue.
Now that I hear you guys, I may try flat black KG Gunkote.
It seems to be a very good product on the new Avenger sight / brake combos, and it would definately be less work.
As Always I value your opinions, and would love to get any feedback directly.

Damon,

Your slip on FS for the 15/22 is awesome. My rifle is so much more enjoyable since I installed one. It just "looks" correct now... The matte black is a good idea, though the product looks fine as is. I ended up painting mine because I removed so much of the finish dressing the set screws. It does look sweet in matte.

If it is a problem and you want an easy fix, rattle can black is the easiest.

Prep the part by standing it in the sun or baking it in the oven on low. Rattle the can for a decent amount of time. Pop part in oven for final cure.

Or spray whole rifle for a camo finish.....

Engine enamal flat black will be very close and will hold up the heat and no need to bake it, just scuff the part with scotch pad or steel wool, wipe it off with a solvent like prep all if you have it, if now rubbing alcohol works, rub it after scuffing then wipe with a clean paper towel then dust it with paint, wait 2 min dust again, tjrn give it a medium to light coat and let it dry
The finish will be close to the look of the gun and will hold up great, iv used engine enamal on atv mufflers.and.it holds good
