Default CCI Blazer users, anyone notice two different types of bullets?

I was reloading some mags today and cracked open a new box of CCI Blazers picked up from Dick's Sporting Goods and quickly notice a difference in the bullet color and shape. I'm used to seeing them be like the bullet on the right side of my pic. The new one on the left looks like it has a rounder nose, similar to that of CCI Standard Velocity and the coating is a lighter, matte gray. Just curious to see if anyone else is noticing this.

The one on the left looks like the one's I got back in July 2010. I think I got them from MidSouth, 5000 of them and they are pretty accurate.

The bullet on the left is essentially a Federal supplied bullet. The one on the right is often supplied by CCI. CCI/Federal are essentially the same company........they often interchange components and or load orders for each other with correct case designations, but different bullet and or powder depending on what is in supply..........best regards Plum

Looks like you're right both owned by ATK.

I prefer the bullet on the right, the CCI bullet as I call it, or perhaps it should be called the non-copper washed Mini Mag bullet, because thats pretty much what it is....These bullets generally have a more consistant OD and sometime run slightly larger at about .2235 to .224 They shoot better for me in most of my arms........best regards Plum
