You mentioned using a single point attachment. Troy and others make one that clamps onto the buffer tube and lets you attach your sling from either side. The 15-22 is pretty light, and for me it's just as easy to add an attachment point on the rail, close to the lower receiver, and use one of the swivel attachments on my Magpul stock. If you're considering changing your stock, or have done so already, that becomes an option that only requires you to buy the swivel itself. There's a new attachment point on the market that I think is pretty slick...check this out. It's nice and small, and allows the swivel to attach in multiple positions:

tango down also makes a single point attachment for the buffer tube, but it's crazy expensive. right now i'm going with a heavy black zip tie, and a key ring around the tube. works great.

I can see that being a problem if you're letting the sling do all the work (not the purpose of a single point). I still hold on to my rifle when it's in the lowered position. If I want to have both hands free, I swing the rifle to the side (under my arm).

yeah, my when i use mine i generally have a a hand on the grip, or rail, and if i need it out of the way i adjust the sling so the rifle on the left side of my chest and runs down the side of my torso, and my leg.

if you can't manage or use a single point without hitting yourself in the groin you probably deserve it. are you guys just dropping it from a firing position and running full sprint or something?

Which is where it stays until it doesn't.

Once you snag that front sight on something, that bungee-cord attachment gets a mind of its own. That's when the hard parts of the rifle will find the soft parts of your anatomy in a stacatto rhythm you won't be able to dance to.

I get what you're saying, but it hasn't ever happened to me. My single point isn't stretchy, it's just a wide nylon adjustable strap. I shoot my 15-22 at targets and gophers and haven't felt the need to roll around and do stage dives. I guess if it's a training rifle for someone who is going into combat....

Rofl!!!

Exactly right. Never could understand why so many have issues with single points. If you get hit on the nuts your doing it wrong.

I used the blackhawk single point sling adaptor. Simple nylon strap with a ring. Think they run from $15-$25 depending where you buy from.

I have a midwest industries sling mount that clamps around the buffer tube. It works great and once you lock it down it stays in place. I think it was about $45 at a LGS.

Not sure if it would work for you but take a look at the Magpul ASAP, I use it on my AR and really like it.

+1 for the Midwest industries mount.

Also, I agree that if you get hit in the nuts, you are doing it wrong. Learn to transition correctly and there will be no issues.

Primary Arms makes a good cheap optic.

For a single point sling, I recommend the MagPul MS3 on a Midwest Industries mount.

Good luck and enjoy.

Well said.

I've looked at options and had pretty much settled on the Midwest Industries mount, until I decided to try 550 paracord first. I'm sticking with paracord.

For a sling, I'm using an Emdom/MM Gearslinger. It has a pigtail with buckle that connects to the weapon and has a D ring sewn in so that it can convert from 2 point to single point. I use an ITW mash hook on the front but you could just as well use an HK snap hook. I like the mash hook for reliability (no springs, balls or detents). To clip onto the rail you could use the Magpul RSA.

I'm thinking of trying the Mission Adapted Design Hook Up with a Magpul MS3. It will be my first foray into single point slings, and will have to work better than the Vickers I have been using on ARs and shotguns for years.

No relationship with M.A.D.; haven't tried the product yet.

Yes, the wolf hook is a "rig mounted" setup. It's design to strap onto your armor or plate carrier.
