Nikon P-22 2X7-32
Nikon P-series Mount
UTG .5" low rise riser
The riser is necessary not just because I like the little extra height. It is my QD system. The Nikon mount slides onto the rail. With the riser I can keep my MBUS mounted at all times and remove scope to go iron.
Note: with so many of us removing scopes and hoping to return to zero on a regular basis remember there is play in the rail slots. Proper technique calls for pushing the scope forward to take up this play. Even though .22 is low recoil that lessens the chance of recoil slippage. I prefer the large thumb screws over QD friction levers. They just feel better to me because I have more control over the pressure and placement. Yes, picky, but that's just me.
Gopher Slayer. I hate your pictures. I lived at 7000ft in the Rockies for 12 years. Now I'm back in the big city. Every time I see your rifle on that fence with Gods country in the background it KILLS me!!!

I'm still up in the air over whether I want to form 1 my son's 15-22. I find it hard to drop $200 on a tax stamp for a 15-22. What was your justification? Help convince me ;-)

Honestly? Because you can.
The $200 isn't going to break anyone's bank, and it is fun. The gun is a little lighter and points a little better.
If you want to do things like put a real suppressor on it then you don't have 16" +4" of suppressor.
If you've got a .223 suppressor for it you can use it on other rifles, or if you get a .22 suppressor you can use it on other .22's.
EVERYONE who has a M&P 15/22 has a 16" one. If you make it shorter you can make it personal.
My personal reason is I use my 15/22 in 3 gun matches. It's easier and quicker to navigate corners and doorways with the shorter rifle than the longer one. If I had a .223 AR I'd also chop it.
You also don't lose THAT much velocity with the shorter barrels. You are generally going to want to keep it inside of 100 yards anyway, something you can do quite well with a .22 pistol with 4" barrels. Leaving it at 10"+ means you can easily do that.
Someone posted a chart a while ago about the velocities of .22 from different barrel lengths and the 10"+ were all in the same ballpark anyway.

I have a .223 sbr already, and a .223 can. That's why I find it tough to swallow doing it to a 15-22. Where to they allow you to run a .22 in 3 gun matches? That's pretty cool. In the 2/3 gun competitions I compete in they do not allow rimfire, however they have made an exception for my son to run his 15-22 due to his age.
We had a course of fire at our last match that had steel tgts at 100, 200 and 350 yrds. My son struggled to find the holdover on the 200yrd steel and my concern is chopping the barrel down would hurt him in a long range COF.
You are right though, it would be pretty cool if I sbr'd his 15-22.

I'll have to check the rules but IDPA's 3 gun, called Defensive Multi Gun, when organised by the South African Defensive Pistol Association has a rimfire category, for rifles only. That may be a special ruling for local gun laws and our situation.
It is harder to justify if you already have a SBR, but then you use the excuse you are setting it up identically to the .223 for cheaper training :-P

Here is mine, it is a Leapers UTG 30mm SWAT 3-12 x 44 Compact IE Rifle scope w/AO Mil-dot, 36 Color EZ-Tap. I'm using the UTG QD 30mm 4-screw Hi-Profile Weaver Rail Scope Rings. I really like this setup especially for long distance shooting.

The bi-pod is by CAA (Command Arms Accessories), and yes it works fine for me with the 25 rd. mags.

Cheap Ncstar 4x32 markiii tactical.
Pretty dam accurate - sighted it in and removed to sight in magpul sights - clamped it back on and it was dead on still.
Only complaint was that I had to remove the base and flip it 180 deg to have the qr lever clear everything. Easy fix though.

Here's Mine. Pretty basic compared to most of you!
Truglo 2 x 42 Multi Reticle Green/Red Dot.
Couldn't really tell you much about the riser. Here's the link though: AR15 M4 FLAT TOP COMPACT 1/2 INCH RISER MOUNT PICATINNY RAIL: Amazon.com: Sports & Outdoors
Cheap ProMag foregrip and Hogue Pistol grip.
Haven't actually been out since I've added any of this lol. I do really like this setup though. Hopefully this weekend.

You'll get better accuracy if you move the mount back off of the rail and completely on to the receiver.

That sounds logical, but in practice made no difference at distances up to 100 yards.

When I traded for the S&W MP15-22 ( a Ruger LCP, IWB and pocket holsters and .380 ammo was My trade bait ) it came with a BSA red-dot. I do have a early Primary Arms red dot on My SKS but for .22lr prefer a scope ( old eyes I guess ) . Plus My scope never needs batteries for My SHTF harvest weapon LOL......WVleo

I just started shooting a rifle after a couple of months with pistols, so I'm working on my technique. At 75 feet, I can manage 2" groups without a rest or bipod.
Picked it up at Big 5. Tag said $54.99, but it was on sale in addition to an e-mail couple. Before tax, it was $34.99.

I use a better reflex red dot that that but that is the way I set my rifles up for Ruger Rimfire and Steel Challenge.

OPMOD EXPS-0 w/Eotech 3x magnifier
Bushmaster predator with a Schmidt and Bender Short dot, LaRue mount
Tried to find a pic but i guess i don't have one of my Spike's M4 w/the new Weaver Super Slam 1.1-5x24 'short dot', PEPR mount, also. Love FFP scopes. All the above guns are canned but not SBR'd. Since they are hunting guns i did not figure the need to add to my stamp collection (have 2 more in the NFA line). Next AR build in 2013 will be a 10.5 with a Gemtech Trek Titanium (one in the line). Should be nice.
Then it is on for a custom Mossy 835 suppressed dog shotgun! wait til you all see that!
think instead of the Barska i would have added a little and gotten the C-More railway...awesome optics on my steel .22 pistols:

yep, base coat of tan krylon cammo i believe then lay on a board and stretch a mesh laundry bag as tight as you can over it and staple it to the board, you don't want the bag to slip and smear the lines, spray next coat, let dry completely, then move bag and do same...lather rinse repeat until satisfied, then a few coats of matte or flat clear and wait about a week until it all cures. they you have a snake on your hands.

Upgraded my M&P with a new optic 1X-4X Leaper UTG, just wanted to test out a CQB/Magnification optic for the 15-22. I can say it is accurate at 50 yards on 4X.. I was able to shoot out 4 1" Orange dot with .05" spacing per 2 shots per dot.. I noticed the stock combat trigger is a little hard but can be done.. love it..

hey what kind of spacer is that and where'd you get it? I have the same scope mounted on my M6 but I think my spacer is a lil too high.
next to it is my 15-22 with aimpoint PRO and newly mounted eotech magnifier that doesn't line up well with the aimpoint

i noted that on my Eotech EXPS-0, it has a built in 7mm riser mount. the FTS eotech mag mount works perfect. the aimpoint i think is the same, a 7mm mount on it since it is high would be perfect. i think a riser on the mag would be pointless.
