Default Mounting BSA Sweet Scope Issue

I recently bought a BSA Sweet Scope 3-9x40 at Dicks. I bought the 1" Extra High Weaver Scope Rings.

However, when I mount it to the rail, the front of the scope is actually touching the rail. Am I doing something wrong? Do I need different rings?

Thanks...

had the same thing happen to me on my Mosin Nagant I know.... I know not the same gun but the same problem....you will need to get a 1/2" riser for the scope thats all $15.00 to $25.00 maybe a little more if you get the Quick detach one

A bit frustrating that you spend $60 on the scope and the same amount to mount it? Maybe this is normal....

Forgot to ask what kind of rings are those? Some type of quick disconnect?

They're UTG Max Strength... comes with the Accushot Swat 3-12x44 scope that's mounted. Here's another angle...

Same type of question came up a couple of weeks ago. I have a BSA Sweet 22 3-9x40 and bought the UTG Med quick release rings. But they would not clear my MBUS either and I had to really push my check down to see good. So I got a UTG 1/2" riser and the MBUS fit under the scope and has a good feel when shooting with the scope, not too high or low. Also from what I found that the difference from low to medium and medium to high is only 5mm. I have pictures under the optics thread if interested, I cannot post them now.

Here is what I got:
Amazon.com: UTG Max Strength LE Grade Quick Detach Picatinny Scope Rings (2 Piece, 1-Inch Diam, 6-Screw Med Profile): Sports & Outdoors
and
Amazon.com: UTG Low Profile Riser Mount with 13 slots: Sports & Outdoors

Or you could try (this the other mount I was going to buy):
Amazon.com: NcStar AR15 QR Weaver Mount/ Cantilever Scope Mount Rear Ring/30mm and 1" Inserts (MARCQ): Sports & Outdoors

A $60 scope is really the bottom end of quality as far as glass and construction are concerned.

Quality rings are anywhere from $30/pair to $300/pair. It all depends upon the application and your pocketbook.

Personally, on the 15-22 the high end rings are a waste of money. The Leaper/UTG rings are one of the best values for a .22.
