Midway sells them but they are sold out also from the reviews on there they sound no good. I have a few of the ProMag 32 round ones and they fed every round every time.

Put an order in with S&W directly over a month ago. No response. Followed with 2 separate emails. Only one was answered. They simply stated they were out of stock and didn't know when they would get any in........
Finally realized S&W was not coming through, so I started to research other options. I couldn't find squat for less than $75.00/mag!
Anyone have an outlet for a reasonably priced 25 round Smith mag or pro mag?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I'd make sure they work before selling them. It's better than even odds that they don't.

Ordered 4 Plinker Tactical mags (35) Rounds and 1 load assist. Went to the range today and the mags worked flawlessly. No misfeeds, even kept up with my slidefire stock. I think I will order another load assist, makes loading the mags very easy. I ordered them the day of O'bama's speech last week and had them within a week.

I purchased one today from a local store, got it loaded up when I got home and had zero issues. Might go buy some more tomorrow....

It would appear so, but I still won't buy any. I'm sending the two freebies I have back.

Why do you say that? It doesn't look, to me, like the issues are fixed at all. Maybe it's covered in other threads I haven't found yet?
Notice that the last two posters who said they work have 1 post. 1. And still only 1.
To me this says that the manufacturer (or maybe a distributor or seller) of these magazines has enlisted the aid of shills (or take it upon themselves) to spread the "good word" about these magazines.
I doubt that those two posters are actual real world users who were so happy with their magazines working they sought out this forum and this thread to tell us about them.
In other words...my BS meter is off the chart here.
I sincerely hope that I am wrong as I just ordered two of these from Brownells for a 15-22 that should be on its way to my LGS.

I definitely had that coming.
Consensus, yes. Unanimous? Unfortunately looking that way.
I ordered two from Brownells today, and just picked up my 15-22 today as well.
Assuming I don't get wet feet and sell them NIB, I will have my own report before too long, I hope.

Yeah, I was totally paid by Plinker Tactical to lie about a working magazine. Go back through my history and see the comments I have made. I had one issue, even though it was minor and got it fixed. People don't have to defend themselves by posting millions of comments about how their **** works.

Nope, bought them from Green Top in Richmond, VA yesterday. Was limited to two per customer, had an entire rack full of these things. I was skeptical after reading this post as I've just been lurking until yesterday and thought I'd report my success with these mags....

PT just sent my check so I figured I'd post, J/K!!!
I picked up 2 which was the limit & have not tried them in my new Christmas present yet.
But last Sunday at the range while on RSO duty a member had 4 PT mags that functioned 100% as he shot up a brick of Blazer.
I plan on trying mine out this weekend & will post back w/results. Fingers crossed....

I wasn't referring to you.
Go back and read my post again.
The posters I was referring to now have 3 posts between the 2 of them, only in this thread.
When magazines are GOOD, there are lots of posts saying so. The S&W magazines are GOOD. In the real ARs, PMAGs are GOOD. Lots and lots of people post this.
It's good to hear that yours work well. There is hope yet!

I purchased two of these recently as they appear to be the only game in town right now for the 15 22. I never had any problems or ftf/ftl with my original SW mag, but the two PT were pains in the @$$. First, I made the mistake of not ordering the load assist. It was all I could do to load 25 rounds into them. When I loaded them to fire, encountered problems with the first couple of rounds on both mags. Definitely think it is some sort of design or manufacture defect with them. Not to rain on anyone's parade who has success with them. I only wish I were so fortunate, as I only have my one original mag and was looking forward to some additional mags.

I don't know why it prevent me from saying something that wasn't inappropriate with the **** lol, on another note.
But I understand your original comment I guess. However, there has been times when I feel like people have been questioning the validity of my statements regarding the PT mags, which is why I took offense to that so fast. I apologize for misunderstanding who you were referring to.
In all honesty I believe there are issues with the mags in general and I think each 15-22 responds to them differently. But some people have a hard time believing that they work at all in general and they tend to be very sarcastic in any remark referring to the PT mags. Thank you for clarifying who you were responding to, I wouldn't have wanted you to think that I was a petty jerk all the time .

It's all good.
For the record, I talked myself out of them and cancelled my order for two, so I won't have any updates/experiences to post. The kicker was that they are so much longer. I put the mag on the ground to shot prone (hope that doesn't hurt feeding with the 15-22, works excellent on the real thing), and it's just too long to mimic that.
Not sure what that leaves me other than either waiting out legislation and hoping to get some in a couple or few months, or paying out the nose on Gunbroker for a second S&W brand mag.

As I have said repeatedly, I'm glad they are working for those who say they are. For the record, my two have been tried by four other shooters and all have had the same experience I did, so it's not just me. (I figure I'm who your remark was directed at because I have been the most vocal about the mags.) We all base our comments upon OUR OWN EXPERIENCE, and mine was bad.
That said, if they HAVE found and fixed the problem, I am thrilled. One always wants third-party stuff to work well.

I definitely do not like the length of them. I wish they had just started off with the 20 round mag. In all honesty its not big deal, but after shooting the stock S&W mags for 4 years, it is just different enough to be inconvenient.

So buy or don't buy? Seeing as there are no other options I'm considering. But general consensus appears to be no good.

I wouldn't call it a general consensus. I would just say according to the bell curve, the lower end has a higher representation than average .

For which I am happy.

I have to say that you never fail to have an opinion or answer to any question posted. To me , more than not, you are rude ! Forums are supposed to be informative and helpful, not critical and condesending ( sp ? ) Strictly my opinion from your constant and many posts. Happy days.

Just joined about...5 minutes ago. Been watching this thread for a few days now. From someone who has read the entire thread, it seems like there are more positives towards the end of this (more current) than negatives which are all at the beginning(last year). I have been toying with the idea of gettin a few hoping PT has fixed the problem but still am not sure I'm convinced. Any feedback from yall that have purchased one more recently and used it? Still problems? Works great? Let's hear all the details.

Check out my review of promag magazines. I say go that route myself. Just my opinion tho. You are going to buy whatever you want. I cannot say one way or other about the plinker mag. I avoided any potential problems by reading this thread. I personally do not care for the idea that you have to buy a loading tool for this magazine. And honestly I value Major's opinion. I honestly think he is going to call it like it is regardless of anyone else's opinion. How ever, he always has a pretty sound reason for disliking something. He is going to tell you if it works or if it doesn't. Enough on that, welcome to the forum. I hope we can help you with any future questions.

Mine were purchased in December through Midway.
It would be great if they fixed the issue but I'll be standing pat w/ my S&W 25 rounders and 10 round shorties until there are a whole bunch more positive reviews. Not sure that I would purchase more of the PT mags personally even after that just based on their length.

I have a few of these coming but havent tried them yet. My friend has two that he just got and has put 3-4 full loads through them without a jam. So maybe the later ones are ok.

Plinker Tactical Magazines
I just returned from the range after shooting 4 magazines with 2 old coffee cans full of various .22's Remingon, peters, federal, winchester, etc.
The cans were full of ammo from an old garage sale, all total about 600 rounds.
I did not have one single problem with any of the magazines.
All I can say is they work!
The gun was clean to start with but, is in need of a good cleaning now.
Just my .02 cents on great product

Hi Guys! I just bought the last MP 15-22, that our local gun store had in stock. It is a NY ban model (in RealTree camo) . I'm from Iowa so the fixed stock was "unfixed" right away. It had the 10 round shorty mag. I bought 2 of the 35 round PT's off GunBroker and tried one out today. Though its a real PIA to load, it worked fine. No FTF's or FTE's and the bolt held open fine after the last shot. I didn't run them through fast, because I was sighting in my new scope. (TruGlo 4X32-RealTree camo on a 1/2 riser, which only needed 2 clix left to be dead on at 50 yds.)
I just ordered the load assist for them. But, so far, so good! I'll sure keep you posted. You guys are right on the length, its awkward, but for right now, it seems that these are the only HC mags available. I'm on the waiting list for CTD, Natchez and Midway, for the S&W mags. And ammo! This craze really sux for the serious shooters and hunters.

Well, here I am. Yet another forum troll with just one post. I recently got into shooting at what seemed like a very bad time to start getting into the sport. Ammo is nowhere to be found, mags and guns are priced gouged out of this world and here I am, trying to be excited to start a new hobby.
I shot my buddies M&P 22 hand gun and that's really what turned me onto 'plinking'. It was extremely fun, I could practice fundamentals, and I didn't have to break the bank doing it. Albeit finding .22lr required an almost Indiana Jones sense of discovery, I thought it would be only fair to pick up the AR clone 15-22 to train myself before getting into the real deal. I bought the gun about, 3 weeks ago, edging out some guy who kept going back and forth about buying their last one. I picked it up, liked it, shelled out the cash and the dude just stood there while i filled out the paperwork regretting and asking over and over again when the shop would get more.
Now, I'm a bit of a tinkerer. I like to research and find things to make my toys more fun. I found the stock mags to be simply sublime. I love them. I think they are truly befitting of the platform of the rifle. However, with that being said, I couldn't find any spares and having just one mag was killing my buzz. I did a lot of research and found the plinker tactical mags and was able to order 2 of them and a loading assist tool (which I too believe should be included with the purchase of a magazine) directly from PT. The turn around time was far exceeding that of what I expected and I was extremely happy. Now, I hadn't had time to take the rifle out and shoot them with the new mags until about 20 minutes ago, and all day after work I was reading the horror stories about the mags. I was so worried about the quality of these mags that I ran to the range and decided now was as good a time as any to test them out and also zero out my new red-dot.
The mags themselves are a bit bulky and long, making rested shooting a bit of a task. But once I racked in a round, the mags did not miss a beat. They fed consistently and I was using Rem thunderbolt and some cheapo federal ammo. The shop had some CCI there so I picked some up to do some 'quality control'. Every round shot flawlessly and I managed to zero in my red-dot before I even finished out one of the PT mags. I dumped about 2 PT mags in succession and reloaded them (which without the tool is an absolute pain.) and went through about 400 rounds without a single hiccup.
I can relate to the OP about having a bad experience and it leaving a bad taste in their mouth. First impressions are hard to fix and neigh impossible sometimes, especially in the world of online retail. One bad product can ruin a customers total experience and put them off to that retailer/brand forever even if that brand revamps their product and every person under the sun has flawless experiences.
All in all, if PT did have a problem early on, they fixed it. And I personally am pleased with their product. I won't discredit the OP one bit and I respect his honest, unbiased opinion. That's hard to come by now a days.
sorry for the long first post, but I wanted to talk about the mags and the fun time I had at the range. :P

Bought 4 PT mags when all the ***** hit the fan and people were buying everything possible... did not buy the load assist tool which is my only complaint. but will soon. But I went through a box of blazer bulk with no issues. 500 rounds and not one single issue. Like the 25rnd S&W magazines better, but would buy a couple PT mags again if I had to.

Despite what a couple of folks have intimated, I really am thrilled that PT has gotten its act together and fixed the feeding problems the earlier production had. More options are always better.
Not providing the loading tool, however, needs to change. The darn thing is only a twenty- five cent piece of plastic, if that much.

Agreed! And I wonder how stout that will be? I don't see why they couldn't have taken the existing thumb pull that will allow ease of loading the first 5 or six rounds, down the back of the mag to load the whole thing.

That would appear to be the reason why... they charge $7.99 on their website for their loading tool alone.!!!!!!

I got my two plinker mags from cabelas monday. Used them today for the first time and neither magazine worked. They both jammed. Bent 4 different bullets.
Haven't had any problems with the s&w one that came with the gun. Cabelas will be getting these back. I was really hoping they would work.

I placed an order online with Plinker Tactical. Called them on the phone first to make sure that the mags were in stock. They arrived on my door step 3 days later. They eject from the lower unit fine and the aluminum charging handle fits great. Can't wait to get out and see if they cycle without jamming.

Although i'm gonna get the slide fire and my lgs has quite a few of these mags i'm gonna just hold off on these and just wait for my promags to come in. Hearing alot of negative responses on these plus you gotta get the load assist tool.
